TV Article Casting Net: Rachel Weisz eyeing Cronenberg's 'Map to the Stars' By Solvej Schou Published on November 8, 2012 12:00PM EST Photo: Stephen Lovekin/FilmMagic • Rachel Weisz is in talks to star in David Cronenberg‘s Map to the Stars, about the shifting, complicated world of agents, managers, and actors in Hollywood (how meta!), with Cronenberg muse Viggo Mortensen and Cosmopolis star Rob Pattinson already attached. The movie, written by Bruce Wagner, will film in Los Angeles. [Deadline] • Alan Arkin, dryly saucy in Argo and hitting the town with fellow veteran guys Al Pacino and Christopher Walken in next year’s debauchery-filled Stand Up Guys, is in negotiations to join two other greying bigwigs Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone — plus Kim Basinger — in the boxing film Grudge Match, about two retired fighters (De Niro and Stallone) who go head-to-head again in the ring. Peter Segal (Get Smart) is directing from a screenplay by Tim Kelleher, with rewrites by Entourage creator Doug Ellin. [Variety] • Wendi McClendon-Covey, totally hilarious as the foul-mouthed, drunken mama bridesmaid in Bridesmaids, is set to play another mom, this time a single parent with a daughter as one of the four leads in Tyler Perry‘s next movie Single Mom’s Club. Perry is also set to star in the film, which he’s directing, writing and producing.
