Amy Adams says playing Taylor Swift's publicist 'would be amazing' if it gets her closer to the singer

She says she became "a Swiftie at 50."

Amy Adams is in her Taylor Swift appreciation era.

The Nightbitch actress reacted enthusiastically on Tuesday's episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon when she was told that Swifties are petitioning for her to play the singer's publicist, Tree Paine, in a potential biopic.

See the interview below, with conversation about Paine around 50 seconds in:

"Uh, that would be amazing," Adams, who has red hair like Paine, responded. "If it got me closer to Taylor, then that would be fun."

The Enchanted actress said her fandom recently went to a new level, thanks to her 14-year-old daughter, Aviana, who she shares with husband Darren Le Gallo.

"I mean, I've always liked her music and appreciated her," Adams said. "And then I went to the Eras Tour. A friend of mine had a ticket. And then I became, like, a Swiftie at 50. So I'm like a shifty Swiftie at 50,"

Fallon joked that he would trademark the phrase for the six-time Oscar nominee.

"And then I'm like, 'Isn't that nifty?'" Adams said. "And now my daughter's going, 'Ooh, I hate this for you.'"

Her daughter wasn't impressed, but Adams "suddenly went from, like, normal to, like, 'I'll take all the friendship bracelets,'" she said.

Swift is scheduled to finish her blockbuster tour in Vancouver on Dec. 8, after nearly two years of concerts. Celebrities and non-celebrities alike snapped up tickets to what has become the highest-grossing concert tour of all time, surpassing the $1 billion mark way back in 2023. Selena Gomez, Emma Stone, Serena Williams, Salma Hayek, and Prince William were just a few of the big names spotted at venues around the world.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson recently explained that even he had to "pull strings" in order to snag tickets to the show. He hated doing it, but it was necessary.

"I'm never good at asking for that kind of stuff. I'm good at giving it. Hate asking for stuff," he told Entertainment Tonight. "I don't do it. But in this case, made a little call. Taylor made it happen."

Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh missed out, as he told The Hollywood Reporter in July.

"I can't get in," Soderbergh said. "But I saw the film."

Adams was one of the lucky ones. And perhaps it had something to do with her history with Swift.

She told Fallon that, years ago, at an awards show afterparty, she sang karaoke with the "Blank Space" singer. Their song was none other than "What's Up?" from 4 Non Blondes.

"I sang really loud over Taylor Swift," she said with a laugh. "And probably not great either."

In her latest film, the black comedy Nightbitch, Adams plays a struggling stay-at-home mom who finds herself morphing into an actual dog. It opens in theaters Friday, but it's already garnering awards buzz.
