The Ethiopia Data Use Partnership (DUP) is seeking a short-term consultant to be based at the South Western Ethiopia Regional Health Bureau. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of HIS in its broader context, and be capable of designing and implementing interventions, mentoring departments, and building capacity. Under the supervision and guidance of the Regional Cluster Lead, the consultant will assist the RHB in implementing the Information Revolution (IR) and strengthening the region's health information system. JSI's Ethiopia Data Use Partnership (DUP) has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to design a comprehensive training program aimed at enhancing leadership skills in data management and data-informed decision-making. The initiative also seeks to establish effective measurement tools and systems for Health Information System (HIS) governance and data accountability. Summary of JSI Data Use Partnership (DUP) First-Year Review: ------- Capacity Building: In its second phase, DUP supported 2,263 participants in data management, analysis, and utilization. It also mentored 392 individuals in data consistency checks, analysis, and reporting, with a focus on maternal and child health and disease control. DUP led the creation of Private HMIS Implementation Guidelines and bolstered performance monitoring by preparing templates and organizing review meetings. Culture of Information Use: DUP contributed to various health strategy documents, including the Health Sector Development and Investment Plan (2023/24–2025/26) and revised guidelines for data quality and planning. It also supported the Mid-term review of HSTP-II and the dissemination of annual and semi-annual performance reports. Digital Health Services: DUP advanced the Digital Health Project Inventory, conducted an Enterprise Architecture Capability Maturity Assessment, and launched interoperability servers for the MOH Data Center. It integrated 600 User Customized Reports into eCHIS, enhanced the Open Concept Lab, and facilitated the integration of DHIS2 with the MFR system. Support was also provided for DHIS2 upgrades, customization, and ongoing eCHIS implementation. Health information system/Digital Health Governance: DUP aligned HIS/DH activities for 2016 EFY, celebrated National Health Data Week, and played a key role in creating taskforces and revising governance guidelines. It also revitalized regional HIS/DH structures, developed regional health plans, and fostered inclusive decision-making and accountability. Overall, DUP has made significant strides in improving data management, digital health services, and governance frameworks.

Digital Health Internship Opportunity ---- The Digital Health Internship aims to provide the intern with hands-on experience in digital health initiatives within the Ethiopian health sector. The intern will gain practical knowledge in the development, standardization, and governance of digital tools used in public health programs. Additionally, the internship offers an opportunity to enhance skills in data management, analysis, reporting, and the integration of digital health solutions into broader health systems. The intern will be actively engaged in various digital health projects, contributing to the advancement of Ethiopia’s Health Information Systems. Job Opportunity JSI Ethiopia Data Use Partnership (DUP)'s is seeking an HIS intern to assist with the implementation of health information systems (HIS) in Ethiopia. ----------- The intern is expected to assess interventions to improve data quality and data use practice in the Ethiopian health sector. During the internship period, she will give due emphasis on reviewing the Ethiopian health management information system related document such as data recording and reporting procedure manual, indicator reference guide, ESV_ICD 11 implementation guideline, data quality and data use manual. She will also conduct data quality review, extract data from DHIS2, analyze data using DHIS2, and monitor implementation of ESV-ICD11 implementation. Furthermore, she will undertake assignment given to her by her supervisor.
