Today I wanted to share about a cause that has been very close to my heart for over a decade 👉 the global movement for menstrual justice for all 🩸 🩸It has been one of the greatest privileges in my life to stand with a generation of young activists claiming the right to power over your body- not just for themselves but for everyone. From school girls in Kenya to young activists in the UK the movement for #MenstrualJusticeForAll is rewriting the story of what it means to travel through life in a female body. 🩸These young visionaries have taught me to dream more ambitiously- to name the sidelining of the female body that happens within our health, research and funding systems and to seek more than the scraps of investment or interest the dominant norms within these spaces permit to these challenges. 🩸Instead- they are focused on writing a new story about a future where every body matters; where norms and systems do not serve the white, male body at the expense of others but where all our diversity is served and celebrated. 🩸Irise International is currently raising funds for their work hosting, supporting and accelerating the work of this movement- including grants to global south feminists and co-ordinating global advocacy. Every donation is doubled- meaning that £500 can be doubled instantly to £1000. For many of the groups Irise supports and works with, £1000 represents a massive chunk of their annual running costs- enough to power their work into 2025. 2% of funding goes to female enterprises and out of that 2%, 00.9% approximately goes to women of colour. Yet as I found out today 36 of women make up the revenue. I won’t be limited, nor do I encourage anyone else to be limited by a statistic, they can always be broken but don’t let them break your dreams We haven’t reached our goal, nor to be transparent are we close but there is still time to make a difference if you want to be apart of change. The report highlights 2023 as a year of significant increases in the social space:  GDP Growth Rate: 7.5% Social Sector Expenditure Growth: 13% Private Giving Growth: 10% CSR share of Domestic Private Giving: 30% Family Philanthropy Increase: 15% Retail Giving Increase: 12% And yet…… a significant gap persists in social sector funding. The country grapples with considerable disparities, inequalities, and challenges in optimizing opportunities within the sector. While there is a noticeable shift from one-time donation drives to more sustained and prolonged impact projects helping go deeper in changing foundational attuites and awareness, it prompts reflection on whether there should be a greater emphasis on the quality and impact of social spending. An intersectional approach is imperative to augment impact. This involves active engagement in enhancing awareness, identifying appropriate causes, leveraging technical expertise, managing social initiatives, monitoring, measuring impact, and, perhaps most importantly, ensuring transparency. This is where our role at 'LET IT COUNT' becomes pivotal...

#internationalwomensday2024 IWD. 08/03/24 It is important that society take measures to ensure that the future for girls is bright, equal, safe and rewarding. #iwd2024 gives us a day to raise awareness, celebrate women, reflect on the progression made but also campaign for the change still needed. 'Women supporting women' was established in 2018 at the princes trust, to help young women who face disadvantage and adversity to transform their lives. A common question on IWD is, which women have inspired you the most? Of course, my daughter, sisters, Nieces, Mum and Nans but if I was to pick one notable public figure it would be Princess Diana. Why? At one point in her life, Princess Diana was supporting over 100 charities. She often utilized the media frenzy surrounding her own personal life to raise awareness and shine a light on a number of progressive humanitarian causes. After her passing, many of these charities suffered a shortfall in funding, showing just how much of a difference, an impact one woman can make. Princess Diana once said, 'Nothing brings me more happiness than to help the most vulnerable people in society. It is a goal and essential part of my life- a kind of destiny.
