Another step in advancing secure communications for European Defence with quantum technology ⚙ The DISCRETION project has reached the Test Readiness Review last week, in an event hosted by the Quantum Communications Group (Instituto de Telecomunicações - Aveiro) in Aveiro. Two critical use cases were demonstrated, one showcasing the setup and mission phases of Software-Defined Radios #SDR using keys generated and distributed through Continuous Variable Quantum Key Distribution #CVQKD, and the other highlighting a video conference secured with encryption based on keys generated and distributed by CV-QKD. Both applications are managed by a robust Software-Defined Network (SDN). The demonstration was attended by the Head of the Center for Communications, Information, Cyberspace and Space from the Estado-Maior-General das Forças Armadas, by the Gabinete Nacional de Segurança and European Commission. The advancements achieved through the DISCRETION project underscore the potential benefits of this technology, including enhanced security for communications, improved resilience against #cyberthreats and the establishment of secure networks vital for #EuropeanDefence. Thank you again to all our partners Instituto de Telecomunicações, Instituto Superior Técnico, Altice Labs, Adyta, Telefonica, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, AIT Austrian Institute of Technology and Nextworks S.r.l. #DISCRETION #SecureCommunications #QuantumCommunications

It was a true privilege to participate in the Spanish presentation of #Proba3 mission yesterday at the European Space Astronomy Centre 📡 Proba-3, led by Sener in collaboration with a consortium of 40 companies across 16 countries, represents the world’s first precision #formationflying mission. It will feature two satellites flying in tandem, demonstrating advanced #formationflying technologies and #rendezvous experiments to create a 144-meter-long solar coronagraph. This will allow unprecedented close-up studies of the Sun’s faint corona near the solar rim. In addition to having conducted the initial #missionanalysis of Proba-3, Deimos is leading the Proba-3 RendezVous eXperiment (P3RVX), leveraging Proba-3's capabilities to demonstrate vital technologies for #InOrbitServicing and #ActiveDebrisRemoval. Deimos participation in Proba-3 was highlighted by Ignacio Tourné, during the 'Participation of Spanish companies in Proba-3” roundtable led by Diego Rodríguez Gómez from Sener Aerospace & Defence, with the participation of Francisco Javier Benito from Airbus Defence and Space and Mariella Graziano from GMV. Congratulations to Sener for their outstanding leadership in this mission and for organizing such an excellent event! ⭐

🚀 Breaking News from #IAC2024 in Milan 🚀 Deimos just signed the #Ciseres contract with ESA, marking the official kickoff of the project. Ciseres, part of ESA Connectivity and Secure Communications (CSS) programme, is a small satellite mission designed to revolutionize disaster response times through the power of #AI 🌍 The contract was signed this morning at IAC in MIlan by Ignacio Tourné together with Simonetta Cheli and Laurent Jaffart. Ciseres aims to alert first responders and government officials within minutes of natural disasters such as floods, fires, and landslides. By integrating AI directly into satellite operations, the system can process and transmit crucial information faster than ever before. Reducing megabytes of data to kilobyes in minutes and AI-enabled on-board software for continuous monitoring, this project is led and co-financed by Deimos, in collaboration with Skylabs, and GINA Software 🛰 More information 👇 https://lnkd.in/ddnvfq9G

Aurora Borealis Captured at Deimos Sky Survey...again! 🌌 For the second time this year, our all-sky camera at Deimos Sky Survey in Spain has captured the rare sight of the Aurora Borealis! This stunning display, which is highly unusual for our location, was triggered by a strong solar storm caused by a recent coronal mass ejection (CME) from the Sun. This solar episode resulted in heightened geomagnetic activity, allowing us to witness the beautiful light show once again. Solar Cycle 25 is in full swing, and with it, we are seeing increased solar storms like this. Our camera will keep watching! 👁️🌍 #AuroraBorealis #DESS #SolarStorm #CoronalMassEjection #NorthernLights #SpaceWeather
