The EOSC Symposium 2024 will be a critical event on the path to EOSC post-2027. It is a key event to network and exchange ideas with policy makers, funders, and representatives of research institutions, research communities, and data- and e-Infrastructures active in the EOSC ecosystem.

The EOSC Symposium 2024 will take place on 21-23 October 2024 at the H4 Hotel Alexanderplatz in Berlin, under the patronage of the German Minister for Education and Research Bettina Stark-Watzinger. The event is organised by the EOSC Association, the EOSC-A German Mandated Organisation, NFDI, with the support of the Horizon Europe project EOSC Focus, and the ZBW – Leibniz Information Centre for Economics, a member of EOSC-A Member.

In order to capitalise on the synergies between the EOSC and NFDI communities, NFDI will hold a meeting with representatives of its community and other relevant stakeholders back-to-back to the EOSC Symposium to facilitate collaboration between the target groups. The co-located NFDI event is an invitation-only event.

If you have any questions about the EOSC Symposium 2024, please contact us at [email protected].

Explore the EOSC Symposium 2024 programme

We are preparing a thought-provoking programme for you!

It is divided into twenty-six sessions that address, among other things, the ambitions of the EOSC Tripartite Partnership, the EOSC Federation, the launch of the EOSC EU Node, the EOSC landscape, including the European Common Data Spaces and the Artificial Intelligence trends, and the impact and contributions of stakeholders.

The programme includes six unconference sessions selected by a popular vote from submissions under the Call for Unconference Sessions. The Symposium will also be an opportunity to explore further synergies and collaborations with the German National Data Infrastructure, NFDI.

The EOSC Symposium is organised in close cooperation with the Open Science Conference

The Open Science Conference is an annual international conference dedicated to the Open Science movement. It is hosted by the Leibniz Strategy Forum on Open Science and organised under the lead of the ZBW – Leibniz Information Centre for Economics.

The high thematic synergies with the EOSC Symposium 2024 have inspired the “Open Science Conference” to join forces with this outstanding event, in order to jointly strengthen the topic of Open Science. Specifically, the ZBW-session “Bringing Open Science into action: The role of educating young researchers” will enrich the programme of the EOSC Symposium by focusing on the importance of integrating Open Science into the training of young researchers. It is essential to raise awareness of open practices, such as data publishing in the sense of FAIR/Open Data from the early stages of doctoral training and to impart the necessary skills.

The EOSC Symposium is colocated with the NFDI event

From Wednesday 23 October afternoon till evening of Thursday 24 October, the National Research Data Infrastructure Germany (NFDI) is organising an invitation-only side event at the same venue as the EOSC Symposium.

The journey from Berlin Brandenburg Airport to the hotel takes approximately one hour by public transportation or taxi. We have put together travel instructions to help you find your way around the city.

Please note that due to construction work, S-Bahn service to and from the Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) is currently disrupted, with no service available between BER and Adlershof. Replacement buses are operating, but we recommend using regional trains or the Airport Express (FEX) for a more convenient journey. For additional information about the traffic disruptions to BER, please click here.
