China has launched a key open lab that will provide high-quality services for the energy industry and facilitate the application of meteorological research in energy exploration and exploitation. The lab was jointly established by the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) Public Meteorological Service Center, China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd., and the Institute of Atmospheric Physics under the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Three geological sites in China, including the Permian vegetation of the Wuda Fossil Site in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the Dashanpu Middle Jurassic Dinosaur Fossils Site in southwest China's Sichuan Province and the Guilin Karst in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, have recently been listed as Geological Heritage Sites by the International Union of Geological Sciences.
A research team from the Xinjiang Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, in collaboration with various institutions including the CAS Institute of Geochemistry and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, successfully simulated Martian soil using Earth-based basalt and produced continuous Martian soil fibers through melt-drawing experiments.
The world's first professional, multimodal large language model (LLM) for the field of lunar science was debuted at the China International Big Data Industry Expo in Guiyang, the capital of southwest China's Guizhou Province, by the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Institute of Geochemistry and the Alibaba Cloud Intelligence Group.
