Particularly: “The Austroasiatic root for "to arise" (whence Khmer កើត (kaət), Khmu kəːt ("to be born")) is reminiscent of this Vietic form. This is probably coincidental though, Vietic has short vowel here, while the rest have long vowel, and semantically they are not that close once you look closer at the individual items.”

From Proto-Vietic *kət (to lift, to raise). Cognate with Toum kʌt⁷.
