[edit]From Middle High German entrech, entreich, antrache, from Old High German antrahho, anetrehho, anutrehho (“male duck, drake”), from Proto-West Germanic *anadrekō (“duck leader”).
Cognate with dialectal German Drache (“male duck, drake”), Low German drake (“male duck, drake”), Middle English drake (“male duck”). By surface analysis, Ente + -rich. More at drake.
