[edit]Derived by STEDT from Proto-Lolo-Burmese *ʔ-gʷəy² (“comb”), from Proto-Tibeto-Burman *ʔ-gʷəy-s (“comb (for hair)”), and compared with Mizo [Term?] (khuih, “comb”). Note also more overt similarities to Old Chinese 篦 (OC *piː, *bis, “fine-tooth comb”).
