ईसाई धर्म
Appearance
Hindi
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From ईसाई (īsāī, “Christian”) + धर्म (dharm, “religion”).
Pronunciation
[edit]Proper noun
[edit]ईसाई धर्म • (īsāī dharm) m (Urdu spelling عیسائی دھرم)
Usage notes
[edit]When used by Christians, the phrase is usually rendered मसीही धर्म (masīhī dharm), literally the "Messianic religion"; a direct translation of the term "Christianity". In contrast, the phrase ईसाई धर्म (īsāī dharm) literally means the "Jesuite religion", deriving from the Qur'anic form of Jesus' name, ईसा (īsā).
