From Proto-Sino-Tibetan *nwar; cognate with Mizo nawr (push, thrust, urge, compel, attack) < nɔɔr & Mizo nawrh (to sulk, to be displeased, disgruntled, offended) < nuar ~ nɔrʔ ~ nɔrh, & Khami *nuar "get angry" (Schuessler, 2007).
