Moulavi Cheragh Ali
(1844–1895)

Indian modernist. Wrote on the subject of Islam. Influential among Western-educated Muslims in the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Last name also spelled "Gerágh Ali", "Geragh Ali", "Chiragh Ali" or "Cheragh Ali". The "Maulavi" or "Moulvi" is a title rather than a name.
