Internal links[edit]As a general rule, internal links should only be used once per article. You can see the guideline at Wikipedia:Manual of Style (links). Excessive links can be distracting and make the article difficult to read. A link should only be used more than once if it has been a very long time since the last place it was used, such as in the case of an extremely long article. Otherwise, once is sufficient. A belated welcome[edit]Since nobody has officially welcomed you yet, I thought I would give you some links you might find helpful as you edit Wikipedia.
Also, if you ever want to practice writing an article from scratch, you can click this link: User:A. S. Aulakh/sandbox. (The link will turn blue after your first edit to the page.) You can also copy and paste an article there to experiment with text or image syntax. (Just remember to remove the categories from any article you paste there.) Anyway, I hope you find these links useful. Good luck, and happy editing! Kafziel Talk 19:57, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
Re: Photo[edit]Yea, they seem like sikhs, but appearances can be deceptive. Anyways, the original author/photographer says muslim soldiers and since most of Mr. Bremner's photos were taken in present day Pakistan, it could be possible that it was a mix of Indian and Pakistani soldiers. Interestingly, this is the ONLY photo where he says that the posing solders were all muslims and given written proof, we at Wikipedia have to go with what the author says, unless there is evidence to the contrary from a good source. Hope I've clarified this. Thanks. Idleguy 13:16, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
Panjabi wikipedia[edit]Praji, space for a wikipedia in Panjabi is allocated here. I have recently added input system in Gurmukhi. But there aren't any serious editors there. It would be great if you joined the effort. Thank you.--Eukesh 14:17, 24 February 2007 (UTC) Other Sikh topics to be brought into Scope[edit]Praji, I wondered if other Sikh related topics could be brought into the Sikhism project.I am particularly concerned about 1984 related topics Khalistan, Khalistan Movement, Operation Bluestar that are edited by Indian Wikipedia editors Binguyen, Gnanipati, Riana etc to keep a Congress/ Indian Nationalist POV only.I have noticed Sikh editors are blocked from editing by these people. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Singhls (talk • contribs) 07:45, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

I reverted your addition "finding hardware bugs during validation" because it needs a citation. We are discussing the large, growing number of applications mentioned in the Article (probably we need a bibliography page), perhaps on account of the large number of doctoral dissertations on the subject (AI, control-engineering...). So we are a bit conservative trying to avoid bloat. IMO, your application sounds quite interesting and I'd like to know more about it, myself. Feel free to reply at my Talk or at the talk page of the article. Pete St.John (talk) 17:54, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
Gandhi and the Anglo-Zulu War[edit]I replied to your comments on the article's talk page. The way you have re-written the section in question seems more fair and balanced. Your note to me that reads, Its not encouraged to delete sections on wikipedia just because the information is not known to you and you think something is "possible" comes off as being somewhat rude or, at least, brusque. The section was originally titled with his "participation"... which could not have happened as he was 9 years old at the time. I'll thank you to note that I did in fact read through the source material and although I do not have the same context as you seem to, I saw no direct relation to the topic on that page and, thus, stand by my decision to remove the content as originally written. Fair use rationale for Image:GandhiBehindTheMaskOfDivinity.jpg[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:GandhiBehindTheMaskOfDivinity.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. hi[edit]Are "Akali" and "Nihang" one and same thing ? I don't think so. But Wiki seem to believe. Nihang ?[edit]That is Ok, that is the literel meaning of "Akali". But my question was that in Wikipedia "Akali" simply points to "Nihangs". But Akali in fact is a politicol term, whereas "Nihang" pertains to the highly discplined organistion of armed monks who have nothing to do with politics. Seeing the heroic role and uparalleded sacrifice of this bravest among the brave Sikhs, is it Ok to let them be confused them with a politicol party that has done nothing after 1947 except degrading the Sikh community in eyes of the world by filling the mind of the Sikh community with venom of seperatism ( for benefiting the one and only real enemy of the Sikhs i.e. the islamic-fascits ) Blue Star revert[edit]Hi, this is in regard to your revert on the Blue star article. You have reverted the change from phyrric victory to victory, usually phyrric victory denote cases where the victorious army suffered irreplaceable casualties. In case of op blue star indian army sufferred 83 death, 249 wounded in return about 207 millitants were found dead. Thus the op seems to not fit the description of a phyrric victory, hence I would request you to reconsider your decision abt the revert. LegalEagle (talk) 14:07, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
Controversy about authenticity of Soft Target (book)[edit]Hello AS, there has been a discusionabout the authenticity of this particular book, as you have been the creator of the particular article please contribute your thoughts, ideas, comments here so as to keep the discussion unfragmented. thanks LegalEagle (talk) 16:27, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
Disputed fair use rationale for Image:SoftTargetBook1989.jpg[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:SoftTargetBook1989.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page. If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 07:21, 21 January 2008 (UTC) Hello Aulakh saab[edit]Hi Aulakh! I am posting this on your talkpage because i think you would be able to help on what i have to say.It is another matter if you cannot and it would be okay. Anyway,i want to know if you know or possess knowledge about the origin of the name Singh. It is being suggested in the article Singh that Guru Gobind Singh Ji adopted that because he was inspired by the heroism of Rajputs. It is kind of demeaning .You can read that in the History part of that article. Please help and contribute to thatt article in a fair manner.ThanksAjjay (talk) 19:27, 24 January 2008 (UTC) I have removed the controversial line as nobody could comeup conclusive refference. But your help might be needed still. And how is the work of Mcleod held among sikhs.I guess his was quite controversial.Ajjay (talk) 05:36, 25 January 2008 (UTC) Fair use rationale for Image:Quick assistant technology.gif[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Quick assistant technology.gif. If you look at the article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khalistan there are allegations that Sikhs that want an Independant country from India are all Pakistani agents or terrorists. The article has several allegations of terrorism added, there is a seperate article on Indian terrorism to discuss these. The overall article has been edited in a way as an attack on Pakistan using Sikh topics. There are many movements that have not been involved in violence that want Independence.
Another site which has Indian nationalist editors distorting is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gurmit_Singh_Aulakh Please can ensure that fair editing is restored on this, a few editors have tried to do this but are overruled —Preceding unsigned comment added by Singhls (talk • contribs) 17:29, 20 February 2008 (UTC) Speedy deletion of Template:User WikiProject Sikh Philosophy[edit]A tag has been placed on Template:User WikiProject Sikh Philosophy requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a deprecated or orphaned template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted. If the template is intended to be substituted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page indicating that it is substituted so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{transclusionless}}</noinclude>). The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media). If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. File source problem with File:SikhsInFrancePostcard.jpg[edit]Thanks for uploading File:SikhsInFrancePostcard.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged. If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 12:30, 14 December 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Damiens.rf 12:30, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
