I see that you've been doing some work on the article, as well as Breed Obsession and "Australia" - am happy to do some collaborations to get the standards of all the band related articles up to scratch. Maybe work on a discography page - although I see that you've been trying to get The Living End discography to FL status (have provided some comments there). Anyway let me know if you're interested. Dan arndt (talk) 04:43, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

No problem - can wait until after exams - was thinking that need to get all articles at least up to B class and work on a discography, maybe create a template - then see where that takes us. Dan arndt (talk) 06:19, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Have managed to track down a copy of From Here on In: The DVD 1997-2004 and am hoping that it should have full details of all the Directors of the band's video clips (between 1997 & 2004). Also found a copy of The Best of the B-Sides a 1999 release will check it out and let you know whether it is an official release by the band. Dan arndt (talk) 01:47, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Unfortunately the DVD doesn't give any clues to who the directors for the video clips were. The The Best of the B-Sides was a special release by Rolling Stone magazine of five songs - so probably doesn't warrant inclusion in the discogrpahy. Managed to find a reference to The Living End's video for "Save the Day" being nominated for The International Viewer's Choice Award (MTV Australia) at the 1999 MTV Awards with the director as Joel Noble (who I tracked down as being a Director at Druid Films). Have updated the table as best I can. Dan arndt (talk) 04:02, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
Whilst I was trawling for details on another discography I came across thislist] of directors of music videos for The Living End. I immediately thought of your work on their discorgraphy. I have included them into the article - just in case you ever thought of re-lodging it as a FLC. Dan arndt (talk) 05:26, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Black Ice (album) Track listing...

Just a friendly note, in this edit you changed the track titles on the album quoting WP:MOS. MOS has nothing to do with song titles. If you check out the official website, you will see that the band has written the titles a certain way, and that should be how they are listed in the article. - Adolphus79 (talk) 15:40, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

Incorrect. I may have quoted the wrong page, but i am right. View WP:ALBUMCAPS. "capitalize: All other words except for coordinating conjunctions (and, but, or, nor), prepositions (to, over, in, for), articles (an, a, the), and the word to in infinitives. Note that short verbs (Is, Are, Be, Do) and pronouns (Me, It, His) are capitalized." Thus, all the iddy biddy words need to be in lower case, there is no exceptions, even if a source which doesn't pass WP:reliable sources (not a third party source) says differently. kiac (talk) 16:19, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
I read WP:ALBUMCAPS before contacting you, and on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Albums (the talk page of WP:ALBUMCAPS), there is a conversation regarding song titles being considered proper nouns. If the artist who wrote and released the song titled it a particular way, we should follow the same format. Basically, your comments are saying that AC/DC is wrong because they did not follow the MOS, and that's a little silly. I know if I released an album, and spelled a song title one particluar way, I would like to see that that same spelling is used whenever discussing the song (or listing it in a track listing). - Adolphus79 (talk) 22:50, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
That would be a discussion, not a guideline, lets stick with the guidelines for now, yeah? I can't even see the one you're talking about, you mean the [sic] conversation? That has nothing to do with this issue. AC/DC don't even want their music on the internet, i'm sure they couldn't give two shits about how their song titles are spelt on some encyclopedia. Titles should be written in proper English, it's the way it is for all articles. And i don't think such a small issue requires this much discussion. kiac (talk) 01:35, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

All Time Low

Hey thanks for helping with the cleanup of All Time Low. If you think of anything else to add feel free. Mygerardromance (talk) 11:47, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

No worries. Might get around to adding some stuff in the coming week. I've been watching that page for a while now, there's a lot of little girls that seem to add stupid stuff like the band member's girlfriends etc. Just a warning, because it gets very frustrating. Hopefully they're detered by a good article. k-i-a-c (hitmeup - the past) 13:12, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
I think it would be a good idea to put in a request for page protection on the All Time Low thing. People are putting crazy things on there. If it were to become protected, would you be able to edit it still? Cuz if that's the case, when I came up with info, I could just pass it along to you and you could put it in there. 12.185.22.200 (talk) 16:58, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
Alright, I created one. Question. Where do I find those little badge thingys that you have on your page. And also, I found a reference that says ATL's Nothing Personal release date is 7/7/09, but I don't know how to make it a reference kinda thing on the ATL page. Here's the link: http://www.altpress.com/features/six-degrees-discs.htm TanisterATL (talk) 22:00, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

For the interview citation needed part, if I can get permission of the zine's owner to scan the interview....then make a ref thing for it.....will that fix the citation needed. Or you could contact Joel (who sings in The Amity Affliction) about it, as he is the owner/publisher/chief editor forDeath Before Dishonour. Otherwise there isn't really anyway to get a citation as DBD magazine owns the rights the content in its zine. I also hope is did this right, if not sorry. It is all a little strange to me, and I have a vague idea how things work here but not enough to make a difference. Veganzombieinc (talk) 12:20, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Dude, the stuff you've done is good! Don't be sorry. Just because there is a tag, doesn't mean anything bad. In relation to actually copying the source, i'm not too sure, i've seen it done before but i'm not too sure if it's within policy. I had a quick look through the WP guidelines and can't really find anything concrete (Did find this though). I wouldn't worry about getting copyright exemption, it isn't that big of a deal, plus we can probably add something different anyway. Sory if this is a ramble, i'm writing down as i'm thinking. That site looks like a carbon copy of Absolute Punk haha. Okay, for now, i think we just put down the Magazine, page number and issue number, as a reference and leave it at that. So if you could do that, i'm happy with it. Sweet! k-i-a-c (hitmeup - the past) 12:45, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
that is easy. Its in issue number 8, page 12, Death Before Dishonour magazine and the ISSN is 1833-2765.Veganzombieinc (talk) 13:41, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
Okay cool, works for me. There's still some more info you should be able to fill in on the page, i left the template there for you. All you need is the author's first and last names (whoever conducted the interview or wrote the article), the title of the article and the date the mag was published. There's more info here if you need more help (go down to the heading with 'magazine' in it), otherwise just send me the info and i can plug it in. Thanks. k-i-a-c (hitmeup - the past) 16:03, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:ACDCblackicede.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:ACDCblackicede.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Metro Station

I didn't remove them just because I felt like it. I just think it's not the proper way to do that. Trust me, I know how you feel...almost all of my edits earlier this year were always changed in some sort of way. Also, I did fix a few formatting things that are totally redundant, just so you know I'm not attacking you or anything. EnDaLeCoMpLeX (talk) 03:37, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

Flags

Flags are discouraged since they are superfluous an increase page loading time. WesleyDodds (talk) 20:29, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

You told me not to remove speedy deletion notices from pages I created myself, but I had not created the page on the (Motherfucking) Browns myself.

Hey, you may remember me from a peer review that I opened for Pendulum discography a couple of months ago. Since you were kind enough to leave a review of the article, I thought you might be interested to know that it is now (finally) an FLC candidate. If you have some time, any additional comments or opinions would be very helpful. Otherwise, I apologise for bothering you. Thanks – Ikara talk → 23:30, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

I was wondering if a mention of sentence...that is straight to the point and is a decent ref....would count for the bit about Deadboy Records. the only other ref is the linked site, the label's myspace. Which is where I originally got the info from and from common knowledge...but common knowledge doesn't count for much unless there is a ref to back it up. Let me know...cos the other ref I originally was asking about is: www.nzherald.co.nz/entertainment/news/article.cfm?c_id=1501119&objectid=10479215 - hope that posting the link won't get me in trouble. Amber Calling

Is there anyway I can make this article more notable...I only have very few references to work off which is difficult. Only way I could get more is if I was to interview the band for the zine I do reviews and such for. I suck at all this stuff....I just know to reference and that's about it and edit/creat stuff.Veganzombieinc (talk) 09:30, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:FAPcover.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:FAPcover.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 12:26, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Hey, no worries, Yeah I just got the pics off their myspace and i just said they were my images because im doubting whoever took them would care, ah well.

It looked really awesome though, that really sucks. I see some other stuff got deleted like my block quote of a review too and the other stuff about chris's fashion.. any particular reason? —Preceding unsigned comment added by MattTech (talkcontribs) 04:21, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

hey is all that closure stuff i did saved somewhere? it took me ages and im gonna get everything referenced now —Preceding unsigned comment added by MattTech (talkcontribs) 03:09, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Midnight Oil discography

You're doing some great work at Midnight Oil discography, I'm assuming you're heading for FLC?

ARIA certifications pre-1997 are problematical, some four or five years ago they promised to release details from their archives but still no show. I've had the same problem supplying certs with reliably sourced info when editing discographies for other Australian artists. I've used McFarlane (which I see as one of your sources).

The best on-line source I know is Australian Charts Portal - Accreditation awards, which is usable to double check with other sources. Currently the only Midnight Oil cert there is Gold for "Blue Sky Mine" in 1990, you need to verify this elsewhere or not use it. Another possibility is to use a Pandora search (if you don't know its an Australian government sponsored archive).

If you do intend going for FLC. What's your opinion on:

  • "-" denotes releases that did not chart or were not released in that region. versus "—" denotes releases that did not chart or were not released in that region. I prefer the latter, but didn't change them as I didn't know which you wanted to use. While on this, should this statement be used in tables with no "–" present? Furthermore, some discographies have a "–" in the certifications column instead of blank space, I have used both systems, and if a dash is in the certs column I use "—" denotes releases that did not chart, were not released in that region, or did not receive certification. Again, I'm not sure if you want this.
  • Placing all the notes in a section just above the references section? You/other editors may have notes for other tables later.
  • Unnamed directors in the Music videos table: what do you put in the blanks? I've used a Note, with a statement like: Director name for these music videos has not been found in reliable sources. But if you're going to run for FLC you'll need a lot more of these reliably named.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 13:39, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

More comments

According to McF:

  • The Dead Heart was released as a 12" EP, with the second side having Warumpi Band's "Blackfella/Whitefella" and Coloured Stone's "This Land". Does this go into the EP table or as a note for the single "The Dead Heart"? Also called an EP here.
  • Various artists album, Burning Bridges contains a track, "Warakurna", by Midnight Oil. They helped launch the album. Does this qualify as 'Other appearances'?

Replies:

  • I'd done some work on Midnight Oil back in Oct08 and fiddled with the singles table but you've gone on from there another level.
  • For liner notes on DVDs/CDs and Kent Report, try your local Library. If they don't have it they may be able to get it in. From memory, Kent doesn't do Certs.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 14:52, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

I managed to track down the following details for the Oils' videos - most of it has been sourced from the DVD version of 20,000 Watt RSL. I hope that this helps - will try and verify most with references when I have the time. Dan arndt (talk) 00:59, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

That's awesome, thanks! So they're all directly from the liner notes? We can use the liners as the ref, that will be fine. I'm not too sure about using Deadheart.org as a ref, it's a fan site. Go for it. Are you going to re-nom TLE discog too? Best of luck on all your great work.

BTW, thanks for the WP:SLASH note. I'm sure some reviewer got me to change them the other way about a year or so ago: I always preferred the spcs form.

Still trying to track down the Oils certifications for Red Sails & Blue Sky both of which I believe reached platinum status (if not multi-platinum) - will add once I have references obtained. Dan arndt (talk) 23:46, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Alrighty, thanks a lot for both of your help! If you find your certs just add them, i'm sure there'll still be a week or so until the FLC is decided anyway (Surely Blue Sky would have at least 4 or 5 times plat?). I'm considering the TLE one, still needs a few nips and tucks though, so i'll probably do that after this one is sorted. Thanks again, both of you, much appreciated k-i-a-c (hitmeup - the past) 08:44, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Have managed to track down a number of books on the Oils - will go through them and see if I can't find any detials about the MV directors or certifications (which may be out of date but at least can be referenced. Dan arndt (talk) 05:15, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

MO @ the Movies

In attempting to track those early MV directors, I ran into David Bradbury who went to Uni with Garrett back in the day (early 1970s). Try his filmographies at fandango.com, IMDb and Australian Screen.

Of particular note are: Front Line a 1979(?) doco with score by MO, Shoalwater: Up for Grabs (1992) with PG of MO narrating and Saturday Night at the Capitol 1982 concert which was later on Best of Both Worlds DVD.

I haven't found a definitive link of Bradbury as director of any of MO's early MVs.

The soundtrack work, at least, is notable since Front Line was nomed for Academy & AFI awards.

See also MO at allmovie and IMDb. Concert footage of MO performing "Short Memory" was used in One Night Stand (1984).

Do you think any of this should be in the MO discography? Or leave it for now?Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 11:45, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

I just came across the One Night Stand link before as well, it seems that it isn't notable if we go along the lines of MOS:DISCOG (Non-original or previously-released material used on soundtracks, trailers, commercials, or any other compilation releases.). "Short Memory" has been released previously.
There seems to be no connections between Bradbusy and MO in those filmographies, apart from Front Line. Here is says that Garrett "worked on" Shoalwater: Up for Grabs with him, but no mention of MV work. They discuss the Capitol recording here and there is no mention.
I'm not sure how we could work the Soundtrack/score work into the list. Maybe bring it up at the FLC? (This would be a perfect reference if it's notable for inclusion) Hopefully something amazing pops up! Fingers crossed. k-i-a-c (hitmeup - the past) 12:02, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I was hoping something would pan out too. Noticed from one of your links that Ray Argyll helped Bradbury with filming the Capitol recordings and that three video clips are identified here but don't think these are the MVs we're looking for.
As for their Front Line work: since it has been released on DVD (earlier on VHS?) then maybe it should be put into a separate soundtracks/scores table? I'll let you decided whether to include this into the discography or leave it till after FLC is decided.
Your 'perfect' ref, together with the allmusic allmovie ref, is good for establishing MO involvement and noteworthiness of the doco. Bradbury's own company [1] lists seven awards (and then some appearances at film fests) but as far as MO is concerned these may not be needed.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 08:47, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
fixed error.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 09:11, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
They look to be live music videos, taken from footage of the concert (you've probably figured this yourself) - i got my hopes up when i saw Armistice Day knowing we need that one, but not to be. I wouldn't of thought score work would be notable in WP's system of discographies, maybe it's worth noting in the MO article? Also, is it just PG or the whole of MO? Seeing mixed statements. k-i-a-c (hitmeup - the past) 11:52, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

FLC comments

I'd like to encourage you to keep on going with the MO discography FLC - both Shaidar & I have been through this process before and know how frustrating it can get - just wanted you to know that if you ever need to let off steam just drop us an email (offline). In the meantime I got a copy of the MO books unfortunately they don't give any a lot of hard facts, so I'm still searching. Hopefully in the next few days I will have my hands on the 20,000 Watt RSL which I will watch diligently and see if I can find any more info on those elusive MV directors. Dan arndt (talk) 05:12, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

SUCCESS!! have managed to fill in many of the blanks in respect to the Directors of the various music videos! Only missing five out of 37... the main ones I am concerned about are "Star of Hope", "Mosquito March" and "Cemetery in My Mind" as they are the most recent and you'd think there was some information somewhere. Am thinking that we delete "Don't Wanna Be the One" and "Run by Night" as I can't find anything about either of these clips. Dan arndt (talk) 02:30, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

Kings of Leon

Thank you for your rude remindings. I will soon do some edits. Langdon (talk) 05:11, 4 February 2009 (UTC)i7114080

I have done my edits. I used my version, because I did a lot of clean-up. I also added certifications and things you had put in. I just want to say that before reverting someone else's edits, take a look at what he had done. Many he did some good edits. Keep in mind.

Langdon (talk) 05:59, 5 February 2009 (UTC)i7114080

I know you are mad at me. You and I both want to make this discography a good list, I'm sure. But when I first saw it, it was not really organized properly. Also there were lots of unneeded things. I just want to clean up a little bit. I know that some of my editions did not fit the requirements, but some requirements are... bad. I am sure we can work together and make this article perfect.
First, for the #1 issue, I just think it is clear. I just feel that "number one" takes time to read, and it is not directly presented... (hard to explain...) never mind, just write number one, because we use it in essays.
I think your original lead is way too long. Leads have to be simple. It just shows what the artist have achieved. Just keep it simple, because tables below will tell you everything. Just need to HIGHLIGHT. If you highlight too much, you will miss the point.
What I did to the tables was just some clean-up. But citation is a big issue. I will try to work it out, but I think separated tables for positions and certs are the best, because the table is TOO CROWDED. All the words are squized together. It is really hard to read. (except you have wide screen computers.)
I will talk to you later. Langdon (talk) 04:17, 6 February 2009 (UTC)i7114080
Okay, well as my edits are being reverted too, I've started a topic on it in its discussion, if you'd like to join in on it?--HeadlightMorning (talk) 08:15, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

Let's take a look at what I have done compared to your request:

  • MOS states that numbers 9 or below should be written, so #8 → NUMBER EIGHT
    • agree and done
..? I am currently viewing the lead section, and i see this occurs 4 separate times?
  • A statement that i wrote such as improving on their previous chart performance in both the United States and abroad has to have evidence following it, to back up the claim. You can't just remove that and state it is a clean up, it isn't, it's removing sourced material which is aiming at gaining the article notability.
    • please add it back
I will work on the lead later, comprising both of our opinions/versions as best i can. And we can work from there.
  • Specific countries can not be generalised into several countries, they need to be specified.
    • too many repetitions. after all, the lead is the highlight, no need to right everything they have done. people actually can feel that when they look at the list.
That is not the point. You simply can't. It's like saying 'several reviewers think Kings of Leon suck' - you need to state who they are etc. Even if it is in the tables.
  • I know the lead was not perfect, it was a work in progress, you've come along and chopped it up like you would a carrot, not like you would someone elses hard work. And you call me rude?????????????????
    • you are rude, and that's what I have felt. You said you gave me 10 days... Are you giving me orders? Do I have to follow?
Your edits do not adhere with wikipedia policy and have impeded on the article, i told you i was going to revert unless it was fixed. It wasn't, so i did. These are not my orders, these are the shitty thing that they demand me and others to do if we want this to be promoted to a Featured List. Again, not from me, from others.
  • CITATIONS MUST BE CITED WITHIN THE TABLE. Can i explain this any simpler? Do not remove them.
    • well, the acharts.us reference is enough to cover all of the reference listed. so I put it in the table.
No it is not.
  • YOU have also removed MULTIPLE necessary and compulsory citations.
    • they are all important, but there are too many. again, the acharts.us reference is enough to cover all of the reference listed. if the FLC people want us to add back, we will add back. Acharts.us reference is not a bad reference. it is acceptable.
There is not too many, this is a rediculous argument. You obviously don't understand how to citate an article properly. Reliability is what we're aiming for, acharts is bearly reliable for an individual chart, let alone 2 dozen.
  • Certifications HAVE to have citations.
    • all done.
  • Certifications HAVE to be in the same tables as the albums or singles. I don't agree with this, but it's the guidelines/policies we must follow.
    • is this your policy? never heard of that before. there is not enough space to put them in the same table (except that you have a wide screen), so separate them is the better way. Carrie Underwood discography is an example. Maroon 5 discography is another.
I said: I don't agree with this. Which i don't, i am total agreeance with you, it looks squeezed in, however, we must go along with the wikipedia policies and guidelines. View this: Wikipedia:WikiProject Discographies/style#Samples. Carrie Underwood and Maroon 5 were both promoted a year ago - trust me here - that basically means it is no longer feature quality. They progress the set standards and the older featured lists get left with older acceptable ways of doing things. This is not accepted anymore.
  • Again, dates do not matter (November 1, 2005 or 1 November 2005), why bother?
    • I don't remember I have edited that. I think someone else changed it, not me. old version
My bad, i apologize.
  • Formats are always requested to be added when going under a FLC. Why remove them?
Again, a year ago. This would be the first thing that is said in a review, they would request that we add these. I just didn't understand what the need was to remove them.
  • Labels were RCA in the US and Hand Me Down abroad = we use the home country's release. Do not just copy the information from another wikipedia page, it has been researched.
    • I don't know that. but the name was there before I started. not my fault.
Noted.
  • Notes at the bottom of tables are required to be small.
    • no need to be that small.
Are you using a very small monitor or something? Looks fine for me, and again this is a set standard required...
  • I explained, the references were purposely added for the EPs because they are required to verify the release. Do not remove them.
    • I did not remove that.
It was re-added. I'm not sure what has happened here.
  • I like what you've done with the music video table.
    • I didn't do anything to it.
=P
  • You are more than welcome to add to what was done, making actual improvements, but you have butchered this list.
    • I have remove tonnes of rubbish, but you keep revert back. rubbish like align=center that kind of thing.
It centres the things that need to be centred... where abouts is the issue?
  • I will be returning in 24 hours to revert it if you haven't already done it by then, again - i'm not telling you to piss off, i'm just saying what you have done so far - has destroyed it.
    • Obviously you didn't. I didn't destroy it - I just clean it up. Don't you see? I removed at lease 6MB of unneeded things.
Unneeded things which are required..? Try 6kb. Page sizes are not an issue until it gets up to around 100kb - there is no grounds to delete things on this basis.
  • Don't turn this on me for being rude or whatever, you have removed a LOT of material that is relevant, citations and all, it has gone downhill. I will also return in 24 hours with an apology, most likely. Good day.
    • I don't think it has gone downhill. I think it is better.
Agree to disagree? lol

I don't think there is anything wrong with my version. you have no reason to say my edits are vandalism. Do you want to stop me? If you do, of course I will also stop you. For admin intervention, I don't care. I did not do anything wrong. I always have my reason. I will be waiting for your response. Langdon (talk) 07:32, 15 February 2009 (UTC)i7114080

You're going to dig us both a hole here. This has to stop. Thanks for your reply. k-i-a-c (hitmeup - the past) 07:57, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

If you don't really know about what I have done, please compare. I did reduce a lot of unused things. There are only 3 issue left: references, merge tables, and format. We will put the references back. But I still think acharts.us is enough, and it will stay, because it is a reference for Canadian Hot 100. But lots of discographies uses the collection reference, and they are still feature list. The other two I strongly disagree. We do not have to follow the samples. There is no new and old issue, since the criteria is always there. Now the is no one ever put the single positions table and certs together. For the album part, I will try to put them together. I will soon do some edits. Langdon (talk) 18:23, 15 February 2009 (UTC)i7114080

Who do you think put acharts there as the ref for Canada? hmm? :) Just can't use it for all of the charts. As i said i will also be reviewing the lead. The changes you made shouldn't be in capitals. As i said above, things accepted 2 years ago are not accepted now. Acharts is not sufficient by itself. The criteria doesn't stay the same, it improves as people discuss it, that's how this site works, they deliberate and come up with solutions and fixes. Why will you try and put the album part together? They are already fine the way they are and there is no need to touch them. The only thing you could do is make the certs or details small, which is pointless. The samples are what is expected, you don't just go changing that at your own discretion. Sure there's leeway - when required - say if you were editing Madonna's discog and she had 30 singles certifications, but with KoL it's redundant. k-i-a-c (hitmeup - the past) 02:48, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

I can not stand it anymore. I will file a peer review to see what's everybody's thoughts. Langdon (talk) 00:35, 24 February 2009 (UTC)i7114080

Oils discography

Was extremely disappointed to see that it failed FL status - I can understand your frustration with the process - let me know if there is anything I can do in the future, should you ever consider another nomination and want a hand - or even if you want a fellow editor to bounce sound ideas off (particularly Oz music related). Thanks for the support the whole way through guys, i've been meaning to drop you both a message. I'm sure i wouldn't have gotten anywhere near as close as we did, by myself, so i owe you guys. If you need any help also, i'm happy to lend a hand. As for future noms, i guess i'll just have to make sure it's definitely FL quality. Kings of Leon discography peer review

I just posted to the peer review request that was made. If I understand correctly, you and Langdon have a dispute over content. Peer reviews are not the manner in which to resolve these. You should make a request for a third opinion, which is how a dispute between two editors is typically resolved. I've posted this message to Langdon's talkspace as well. Thanks. hornoir (talk) 15:14, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Hi!

Re: This edit

I added the {{Fv}} tag instead of reverting the IP; reason being that I'd already reverted once and edit want to edit war. I totally agree that cited, correct, data is better than tagged, incorrect, data however.

No problem - I was just erring on the too-cautious side of caution ;-) I know what you mean about discographies - they seem to attract unreliable sources and just plain incorrect guesses... Cheers, This flag once was redpropagandadeeds 12:53, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

I was wondering if for the citation for the video clip part a simple link to the vid will do. The video was added by the production company who made it to their myspace on march 11th 2009 not march 10 though. The link itself is http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&VideoID=53884667

And the other citation needed is from their myspace blog I believe. Veganzombieinc (talk) 00:34, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Katy Perry Discography

Hey! Just pointing out music videos should be left alone, as they do exist and so should be listed and known as such. As for the singles, I do not have a verifiable sourcer, rather, I assumed they were singles as music videos are usually tools to promote singles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.96.120.3 (talk) 11:50, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Motion City Soundtrack & WikiProject Emo

Hi there. I noticed that you removed the WikiProject Emo banner from Talk:Motion City Soundtrack. I've re-added it because I feel that the article does fall, in some manner, within the scope of the project. I'm not in any way trying to start some argument that "Motion City Soundtrack is emo"...those debates never get anywhere (and I myself view them as primarily a power-pop band). However, they do have certain ties to emo and are linked to it, and there are sources that make those connections. Here are a few I found:

  • "Motion City Soundtrack is the Weezer of emo." Blender
  • "Justin Pierre's emo-tinged vocals are charming, and fans of Jimmy Eat World and the like will enjoy that." Allmusic
  • "Minneapolis emo kids liven up a familiar formula with quirky humor and vintage synths" Metromix New York
  • "While they do fit into the emo world in the same way bands like Jimmy Eat World do they are a little more sophisticated with their hooks and almost mainstream rock antics." Music Emissions
  • "Who says emo bands can’t cha-cha?", "Nine days and counting. That’s how long Josh Cain, guitarist for the Minneapolis-based emo fivesome Motion City Soundtrack, has left as a free man." Blender

Because of these connections, it's appropriate for WikiProject Emo to consider the article within its scope. Of course it's only of mid- to low-importance to the project, as the band is not primarily emo, but their links (however tangential) to the style do place them somewhere within the broad scope of the project. In the end it can only help to have more projects placing the article within their purview, as it draws the attention of more experienced editors to the article and encourages community collaboration to improve it. I suggest that it would probably also belong within the scope of either WikiProject Punk music or WikiProject Alternative music, as it's not likely to get much attention just being under WikiProject Biography (which has hundreds of thousands of articles in its scope). --IllaZilla (talk) 20:22, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:WeTheKings(album cover).jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:WeTheKings(album cover).jpg.

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:18, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Certification

Hi, the certifications are still on the ARIA charts website, they just havent been archived yet, therefore the singles chart which has it's certification is still a reliable source. Billy4kate (talk) 07:56, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

For every category you create, you should specify parent categories to which it belongs. You can do this by listing the parents near the bottom of the page, each enclosed in double brackets like so:

[[Category:Albums by artist]]
[[Category:Hypothetical second category]]

I am a human being, not a bot, so you can contact me if you have questions about this. Best regards, --Stepheng3 (talk) 04:41, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

It will be changed if there is another image available that is allowed to be used per Wikipedia's policies; in relation to Non-free content. We can't just search Google and add an image in, they are primarily copyrighted and unusable. k-i-a-c (hitmeup - the past) 17:31, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

Australian certifications

Always check the current Australian chart at ARIA. For songs that are still charting, it will list the latest certification, and it can update a few weeks before the certification database updates. The last few times I've wound up in a tussle over an Australian certification, that was the problem. I haven't checked in this case.—Kww(talk) 03:42, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

The song is no longer in the chart - i checked. All I want is the guy to state that that is where he is getting it from, because he leaves the references untouched and suddenly they are outdated (in this case, the 2008 link is saying Platinum, it will eventually be updated in the 2009 link, so someone (I) will have to change it). k-i-a-c (hitmeup - the past) 04:23, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for your comments. We don't want only the 5 major music markets. But since it is a discography page and will include every single and albums the artist has released, hence don't you think it will clutter the page if we include all the countries and certifications? For the particular single page it is fine but to include all of them in the disco page will indeed be overaddition. Thats what I meant. Even we reached a consensus that 10 major countries are to be listed but for certiifcations I said 5 major. --Legolas (talk2me) 07:44, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
Even I understood what you mean, but we already reached a consensus that we will be using 10 countries in the country list as stated by a previous discussion above. However as you must have noticed, instead of discussing this issue one user started bad mouthing me and Wikipedia. That really annoyed me. If this continues I plan to go to ANI. This kind of behaviour needs to stop. As for the certifications, I don't care how many they put, but the thing is that each and every time, wrong or non-permanent or bad references are being put, which I have removed. Therein lies all their angst against me.*shrug* --Legolas (talk2me) 08:29, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
Nothing. I admit its a good chart but the user needed to discuss in the project page first. What he was actually doing was starting a discussion in the Lady Gaga discography talkpage for which I told him Take it to the WP:CHARTS page, not here. God knows how that is offending. Too much drama. --Legolas (talk2me) 05:03, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Your frustration is showing ...

Ultimately, those edit summaries are going to cause you trouble. When they are truly against a vandal, nothing bad will happen. The first time you slip up and insult a good-faith editor because you didn't verify the source right or they had simply made a mistake, it'll bite you in the ass. I understand the frustration, but it shouldn't show in your summaries.—Kww(talk) 05:09, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

By the way, I noted you had some trouble with 201.209.224.71 again (false data in Katy Perry articles). I can only find one insertion of false data since its unblock, and it is surrounded by what appear to be decent edits. I'll keep an eye on it too ... if it becomes apparent that the false data insertion is intentional, I think a month-long block would be appropriate for it, and I'll ask for one at ANI.—Kww(talk) 13:52, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
Even assuming there was one, it would be his responsibility not to edit war the change, provide a source, respond to talk page messages, something. It's not on acharts, and it's not on italiancharts.com. If there's a source, hopefully he'll mention it in his unblock message, because he's on a month block now.—Kww(talk) 19:10, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
Sometimes these things are an infection ... it gets on one page, and then people start copying it around. As for harshness towards 201.209.224.71, the problem there is simply one of not listening: he was blocked twice for repeating edits inserting bad charts after he had been explicitly told not to make them. You told him last night not to make the edit inserting an Italian position of 14 again, and he did so. It's not the edit per se that got him blocked, it's the edit-warring without communication.—Kww(talk) 19:22, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

Sooo... I noticed you changed the peak position of Weightless back to 104. I have this link here ( http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/esearch/chart_display.jsp?cfi=395&cfgn=Singles&cfn=Hot+Digital+Songs&ci=3107632&cdi=10181048&cid=04%2F25%2F2009 ) that says its peak position is 75. Green Day Airplay

Thanks for watching out for bad reverts, but I'd like to point out my edits were within the rules. According to Chart Protocol on this site (More specifically here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Record_charts/U.S._Billboard_chart_inclusion#Hot_100_Sales.2C_Hot_100_Airplay.2C_Hot_Digital_Songs.2C_Hot_Digital_Tracks) if a song didn't chart on the Hot 100, the Hot 100 Airplay should be used. Since the Pop 100 was created until 2005, the inclusion of this chart is not needed. There fore, the Hot 100 Airplay chart should be kept as is. I started a discussion on the Talk Page if you want to post your feedback. Thanks!--76.246.176.32 (talk) 16:08, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

I am not really sure why you feel the need to alter the style of 39/Smooth and 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours in the Green Day discography article. WP:SLASH does not explicitly state to introduce spaces where there are none. It instead discourages the use of the "/" altogether. However, as this is the way the titles are style, this formatting can remain. The titles are rendered without a space in the main articles and there seems no logical reason to use piped links or alter the formatting now. Cheers Nouse4aname (talk) 08:08, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

It is used for clarity, am i right by assuming this? It's a style issue, not whether it is correct or not to alter the title. However, I am sick of reverting trivial issues on highly popular articles, so I will leave it as is, people have their own agendas and don't even take what you say into consideration until you ark up. Might be a reference to the Sunbury Pop Festival article which claims DC performed at first festival (other sources don't list them see Milesago). This article repeats the oft made claim that Queen were booed offstage in 1974 (I've repeated it myself), which Wilson apparently disputed on the Spicks and Specks episode according to a new edit. A similar disputation was provided by a quote (unreferenced) from Madder Lake's bass player (they were at all four festivals).Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 12:53, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
