MONITORAPP (Korean name: 모니터랩) is a Korean security vendor headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, specializing in application security technology[1] and cloud-based security solutions[2]. It was listed on the KOSDAQ in 2023[3].
Establishment
[edit]MONITORAPP was founded by Kwanghoo Lee[4][5] in South Korea in 2005, before opening a branch in Japan[6] and a branch in the United States[7]. MONITORAPP has been a member of the Korea Association of Cloud Industry since 2012[8] and was a member of the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) in 2014[9][10]. The company recently expanded its markets to countries such as Taiwan[11], Indonesia[12], Vietnam[13][14], Japan[15]
MONITORAPP has 19 patents for its security technologies[16].
Web Application Firewall
[edit]The company released AIWAF (Application Insight Web Application Firewall) no long after its establishment. AIWAF then obtained the Korean Common Criteria (CC) certification and passed the Korean National Intelligent Service's security assessment in 2009[17]. After gaining the majority of the Korean web firewall market[18], MONITORAPP became an AWS WAF Ready Partner with its WAF in 2024[19].
SECaaS Platform
[edit]MONITORAPP released its appliance technologies as cloud-based services through a SECaaS platform called AIONCLOUD in 2016, which then received the “Standards for Quality and Performance of Cloud Computing Services” certificate from the Korea Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA) in 2018[20]. AIONCLOUD SSE platform operates based on the global edge network, which connects users and resources to the closest and most responsive edge locations[21]. MONITORAPP received ISO-27017, ISO 27-018, ISO-27001, and ISO-27701 for AIONCLOUD[22].
Threat Intelligence Platform
[edit]MONITORAPP’s threat intelligence platform gathers unstructured data from various sources and provides threat data after analyzing and processing them using an AI-based engine[23]. The company is a contributor to Virus Total with its malicious URL profiling technology built within the platform[24].
