New Content

[edit]

Hi! I will be adding some new content in a day or so regarding Women's education and employment in New Zealand along with some information on Prostitution, Prejudice, and Discrimination. Feedback is welcomed! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kjanney (talkcontribs) 01:39, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

New Content

[edit]

Hi guys! I just added some new content to a couple of sections. Feel free to leave feedback!

Review and edit of content

[edit]

I am going to do a review and edit of the content. Areas of focus: racial discrimination and the way Māori and Māori women are referred too. There is a direct copy (not paraphrased) in some of the text. There needs to be more references and references to information written by Māori. Expand list of notable women. Bring up to date / add statistics and areas of both concern and celebration for New Zealand women. Pakoire (talk) 20:55, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Opening section

[edit]

I have edited the opening section to better reflect the current content of the article. Feel free to discuss this and the article as a whole (see my other talk page entry too) Pakoire (talk) 20:58, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Article structure change

[edit]

I propose to move the content under Education to the section Politics and Legal since it is mostly about legal graduates, and to remove the title Education - obviously can be reinstated if there is more relevant information about Women in New Zealand and Education. • I agree the article would benefit from some structural changes. Shall we take a look at other similar pages e.g. Women in Australia, Women in Canada etc etc and see what other ways of organising content is used in other articles and then re-convene here to say what we think would work best here? For example, I like the chronological approach of Women in Australia as that would enable the changing circumstances/experiences of Māori wahine to be included throughout history. Edited: I just read the Women in Australia historical sections and note that it starts with white settlement. That's not what I would recommend for the Women in NZ article. I think it should start with a description of women's role in pre-European arrival society and then the changes that European settlement brought with it could be described. Great - I have addressed this and it could go into more depth if it is felt appropriate. A discussion about heading titles for structure might be fruitful? Pakoire (talk) 00:42, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
