[edit]
There used to be a Presbyterian Church called St Enochs across Collins St from where the Athenaeum Theatre is now. It seems this was demolished many, many years ago but it was there in 1875 as this picture shows [1]. Information is very scarce on this building but I was wondering if in fact this was the church demolished and replaced by Scots Church ? Andypasto 00:05, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
- I've now found that they actually are separate churchs - St Enoch's being a breakaway congregation. Will add something about this if I can gather some more info. Andypasto 00:41, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

Francis Macnab
[edit]I've been wondering how much to include in the section about Scots' response to Francis Macnab's announcement of a "New Faith". I don't think we need to include his new commandments here, as the section is actually about Scots' criticism and response to Macnab, not about his teaching itself.
Further the relevance of the following paragraphs are also questionable:
In a interview with Stateline Victoria Dr Macnab replied to criticism saying that he was in agreement with others inside Christianity who, "are asking the traditional church to re-examine and renew their basic thinking about what faith can be, because millions of people do not find the old faith meaningful to their lives."[13] He said he "would expect that kind of reaction from people who take the scriptures far too literally."[11]
The Uniting Church did not move to discipline Dr Macnab because no formal complaint had been received.[13][11]
Thoughts? Blarneytherinosaur gabby? 02:25, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
- That's right, only the actions and statements of Scots church really need to be included. The new commandments and the above paragraph can both be cut out. StAnselm (talk) 12:23, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
- Do you think the paragraph above the new commandments is too generic (i.e. not specifically directed at Scots') to be included? Blarneytherinosaur gabby? 23:40, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, I do. StAnselm (talk) 00:07, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

Following a request from the Executive of St Michael's Uniting Church, the coverage of the entire thing is now under discussion at Talk:Francis Macnab. Please give your attention to that discussion. Blarneytherinosaur gabby? 06:55, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
