Is there any readily-accessible public-domain source for fleshing out this article? In particular the text as it stands leaves me wondering how old she was when she was 'sold' — was her beard already growing by then? She couldn't have been terribly old if that first circus abandoned her at an orphanage.
I'm willing to look for the names of her three previous husbands, if someone can direct me where to look; I've never done genealogical research, so while I know the records almost certainly exist somewhere, I don't know where to start looking. From Barnell's appearance and birth location, there's a fair chance she may be related to my fiancee, which would make it even more interesting for me to look into the vital-statistics info for this article.
