Date of Near-total abortion ban in TN (i.e., SB 1257)

[edit]

Before a near-total abortion ban can go into effect in TN (SB 1257), Tennessee's Attorney General Herbert Slatery must notify the Tennessee Code Commission that Roe v. Casey is overruled. The near-total abortion ban will go into effect 30 days after this notification. As of 2022-07-22, the AG of TN has not made this notification, according to this source: https://www.wsmv.com/2022/07/22/explainer-when-do-tennessees-abortion-trigger-laws-go-into-effect/ . The TN AG is waiting for the U.S. Supreme Court to issue its official judgment on Dobbs, which will be issued 30 days after 2022-06-24, meaning on 2022-07-24 (or possibly 2022-07-25?). Assuming the TN AG acts immediately, that implies the near-total abortion ban will take effect sometime around August 24, 2022, or perhaps in the week following that date (i.e., the last week of August). P.S. As a result, I'm changing the first sentence in the article, which is not true (SB 1257 is not going into effect on July 24, 2022) according to the above. Brom20110101 (talk) 04:55, 23 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"Participants and their children"

[edit]

In this edit, someone changed the caption of the March For Life picture to describe the people in it not simply as "participants" but "participants and their children". Given that the children seen are holding signs, it's hard to find any reason to claim they aren't participants (it may be voluntary or not, we don't know, but we could say the same for anyone in the picture.) I'm avoiding editing articles myself at this point, but I recommend someone review and rescind that edit. --Nat Gertler (talk) 13:31, 7 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Narrow exceptions bill passed

[edit]

A bill allowing narrow exceptions passed. Notably it allows abortions to save the life of the mother. The article should reflect that 50.83.52.10 (talk) 02:58, 9 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
