John Catron served on the Tennessee Court of Errors and Appeals before his appointment to the Supreme Court of the United States.
Andrew Jackson's service on the Tennessee Superior Court preceded his service for his second term in the United States Senate, and as President of the United States.
Horace Maynard served on the Tennessee Supreme Court and the United States Congress at the same time, a dual role that was challenged in court.

This list includes Judges of the Tennessee Superior Court (1796–1809) and Judges of the Tennessee Court of Errors and Appeals (1810-1835).[1] These high courts were created before the 1835 Tennessee constitution, which established the Supreme Court and made the Judiciary an independent branch of government.[2]
