Currently, the implementation of 'Top' and 'Top of page' within the CompactTOC templates is non-functional when used in conjuction with browsers and/or skins that support floating quickbars. Example: Firefox 1.0.7 under MS XP with Classic skin and no customization. The current implementation takes you to the 'top' section name (delivered through "a hidden <a name="top" id="top"></a> above the sitenotice", I am led to believe). This is the top of the page if the quickbar is fixed or not used, but the top of the screen if the quickbar is floating.

My proposed solution is to use {{NAMESPACE}}:{{PAGENAME}}. This comes into conflict with WP:AUM. Alternatives are invited. User:Noisy | Talk 00:51, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is there any problem with linking to the container div #content? -- parasti 01:21, 16 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Belated thanks: that seems to work fine! Noisy | Talk 01:05, 21 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is there any way to transclude the TOC of an arbitrary page in another page?

Possible to replicate [hide]?

or not? --MateoP 00:31, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've been wondering the same thing…

New template to replace CompactTOC(x)

[edit]

I created a template which can replace most of what all these CompactTOCs try to accomplish. For more information, see Template talk:AlphanumericTOC. —Mike 23:15, 4 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Pardon my ignorance, but waht are these for

[edit]

I'm rading through the project page, and I don't understand how or where these alphanumericTOCs might be used. The obvious is not stated at the beginning of the article to allow us uninitiated to understand these templates. Could someone write a quick explanation and maybe point to something with a wikilink where one of these templates is used effectively? Thanks --Cplot 23:31, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I need a countries of the world TOC template like the pull-down menus that appear on all sorts of webpages It would be nice to have the standard one that I already see out thereCaveman1949 (talk) 23:40, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

TOC of months

[edit]

Would it be possible to expand this template to include a table of contents for months, similar to the top of List of ship launches in 1911? It would be useful in similar articles, including all year-related articles like 1999. Or maybe it should be its own template, called TOCmonths? Thanks. Textwrap?

[edit]

Is it possible to wrap text around the auto-generated contents template (for a user page)? For example, can this be done with something similar to a div tag with a float attribute? My attempts at making it work have been unsuccessful, but also limited and amateur. Regards --Peter S Strempel (talk) 01:19, 8 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
