Perth meetup number 64
Previous meetup (in Cottesloe) postponed from December due to weather
Please note due to the predicted temperature on the 15th of December was cancelled for health and safety reasons.
Due to the weather on the day being predicted to be 40°C

it is not considered suitable for an outdoor activity as has been planned... Organisers apologise for any convenience. Stay hydrated, slip slop and slap, keep in the shade and take care!!!!

  • What: First meetup for 2020, and slightly late celebration of Wikipedia Day. Just a social meetup with food, coffee, and chatting (no problem if you can't make this one; the next meetup will be early February)
  • Where: Coffee shop in the State Library of Western Australia Moved to Picabar, adjacent to PICA in the Perth Cultural Center (South-west of the state library building)

The nature of such meetups in usually social and exchanging gossip and chatter about almost everything, and weekend meetups have been in the main task free, but at the same time do produce interesting results worth noting:

New articles in January 2020 have been the largest number in a month since the origin of the notice on the WA noticeboard
Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Western_Australia#Recently created articles
Regions of Western Australia projects have been expanded to include all regions:
Wikipedia:WikiProject_Western_Australia/Regional_Projects

Among the various discussions was the proposal to drop the usage of apologies to not attending in future meeting pages, and the general consensus was to change the heading to not attending.

Thanks to those who attended, that has resulted in perhaps the most edits resulting from a meeting in a very long time!
