Herkomer
[edit]Almost 6 years younger HvH was very probably never a Filde's classmate: HvH notes in The Herkomers Vol.1 p.68: "He was already, at the time I mention [=1868], a wellknown illustrator, working along with Millais, Walker, Pinwell, Small, Houghton and Sandys." when he approached Fildes in the Galleries of the South Kensington Museum, where Fildes was at work drawing a wood block for the Illustrated London News.
