June 2022

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "GovernmentAssistant", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because WP:MISLEADNAME and WP:DISRUPTNAME. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. - FlightTime (open channel) 23:52, 28 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Rolling Stone US does not award stars

[edit]

Hello. This is incorrect, as the original American edition of Rolling Stone announced in August 2022 that they would no longer be awarding stars to albums. The "Hear This" sticker with the faded four stars in it at the top-right of the page is not a rating, and if it was, that would not be the place they'd put the rating—it's barely noticeable. So please do not put ratings assigned to the US edition of Rolling Stone in the template any longer. Also, nobody disputed Rolling Stone is a notable publication, but per Template:Album ratings, we do not put reviews without scores in the template. Thank you. Ss112 02:23, 9 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Brian Harman photo

[edit]

Hey GovernmentAssistant, I noticed that you added a photo to the Brian Harman article but that the photo you uploaded to Commons (c:File:Sony Open in Hawaii - 2018 - Brian Harman (276406781) cropped.jpg) does not have valid licensing information attached to it. Wikipedia's Copyright FAQ and Commons' licensing documentation may be helpful here. Specifically:

  • If this is a photo you personally took, you should mark the source as "Own Work" and release it under an appropriate compatible license on Commons (CC-BY-SA 4.0 or the public domain are common choices).
  • If this is a photo someone else took, you need to determine the copyright status of the work. If the original author has released the work under a compatible free license, you can update this on Commons, including both the original source and evidence of the work's licensing. If the work is not released under any free license by the original author, it is most likely still under copyright, and should be removed from Commons (which only hosts free images). Wikipedia does allow the usage of non-free images under fair use in some cases, but these must be uploaded directly to Wikipedia, and all the fair use criteria in WP:NFCC must be met.

Thanks, and thanks for uploading an image! I recognize copyright is not the easiest area of Wikipedia to navigate, so feel free to reply here if you have any questions. You can also ask any editing-related questions you might have at the Teahouse. Dylnuge (TalkEdits) 04:57, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

October 2023

[edit]
Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia because your username, GovernmentAssistant, does not comply with Wikipedia's username policy. Your username is the principal reason for the block. You are welcome to continue editing after you have chosen a new username that complies with Wikipedia's username policy, which is summarized here.
Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a username change of your current account here. The new username that you choose must comply with Wikipedia's username policy.
  • To create a new account with a different username, simply log out of this account and then click here to make a new one.
  • If you prefer to change the username of this account, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page (this page): {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If your username is not in violation of Wikipedia's username policy, and if you believe that this block was incorrect or made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page here: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.
