These illustrators have won the Caldecott Medal from the American Library Association, "awarded annually ... to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children". The Medal is "for distinguished illustrations in a picture book and for excellence of pictorial presentation for children".

For articles on winning books see Category: Caldecott Medal–winning works.

The award was inaugurated in 1938 and there have been 81 Medals and winning works through 2018; only 71 winning illustrators (or joint illustrators) because several of them have won more than once.
