Description

Photograph of 155 mm Howitzer Model 1918 in traveling position i.e. with barrel pulled back to recoil position to equalise weight between gun carriage and limber wheels.

This gun is a US-built version in US Army service. Note the straight shield, which differentiated this US version from the French version which had a curved shield.
