Song Information

1. Mein Herz brennt (My Heart Burns)

  • This song is about childhood nightmares. It is considered a reference to Metallica's Enter Sandman, and originally even had the title of Sandmann (Sandman). It was used as the introductory and the final song to the movie Lilja 4-ever.
  • This song was written in response to the many claims that Rammstein are Nazis that badly influenced various school shootings. The song's chorus shows that the band's political views are on the left (2, 3, 4).

3. Sonne (Sun)

  • This song was originally going to be used as heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko's entrance music, but was never used. Even without the use as Klitschko's entrance music, the song still references boxing through the verses and the unforgettable growls in the chorus counting to ten, as a referee does for a potential KO.

4. Ich will (I Want)

  • This song is simply a song to pump up the crowd and get their attention.

5. Feuer frei! (Fire at will!)

  • This song is about releasing anger that has been held in for a long time. It was used as the introductory song to the movie xXx.

6. Mutter (Mother)

  • This song is about a man who never had a mother because he was made in an experiment. The man in the song seeks revenge against the mother that never gave birth to him.

7. Spieluhr (Music Box)

  • A decidedly depressing song, this song is about a little boy who wanted to be all alone, so he played dead. The people of the village took him for dead and quickly buried him under the sand. The cold air outside wakes the buried-alive child, who plays the music box and sings from underground, in hope that someone will hear him. He is eventually heard and he is dug back out of the ground.

8. Zwitter (Hermaphrodite)

9. Rein raus (In, Out)

  • This song is about rough sex.

10. Adios (Spanish for goodbye)

  • This song, which mentions needles many times, could be looked at as being about heroin.

11. Nebel (Mist)

  • One of Rammstein's few slow songs, this song is about a couple who takes their final walk together on the beach before the woman dies in the man's arms.

Singles

  1. "Sonne"
  2. "Links 2, 3, 4"
  3. "Ich will"
  4. "Mutter"
  5. "Feuer frei!"

'Feuer frei!' also appears on the xXx movie soundtrack, and Rammstein appear in the movie playing the song. It is the theme song of the movie, and was featured in trailers and previews.
