Television series season colours

Please familiarize yourself with WP:COLOR and Template talk:Infobox television season#Colour as to the reasons behind my reverts of your colour changes. All colours must be WCAG 2 AAA Compliant to comply with accessibility issues - your colours were not. Alex|The|Whovian 02:14, 18 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Look, I'm not activity trying to upset you ok.... I'm way to stupid to get the color shading stuff. Quite frankly if its legible what difference does it make? Grapesoda22 (talk) 02:20, 18 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
No problems, I'm just informing you. And the difference is while it may be legible to us, it may not be legible to those with sight impairment or those that are colour blind. To make sure a colour is valid, use this, and make sure that the Contrast Ratio is at least 7, and and WCAG 2 AAA Compliant is "YES". Alex|The|Whovian 02:27, 18 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It's saying FF6666 isn't compliant. 02:39, 18 October 2015 (UTC)
If you change the foreground colour (that is, the text) to black, it is. Alex|The|Whovian 02:48, 18 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A kitten for you!

Dear Grapesoda22

Burke's Law (1963 TV series) episodes are now available on YouTube and I've begun updating the Guest Stars' names from the actual episode credits - which read like a Hollywood Who's Who from every era up to the episodes' air dates. So far there's been one addition and some strange omissions, considering that all of them have their own Wikipedia pages! I'll update you as soon as it's finished (or I drop out). Cheers! Shir-El too 19:55, 25 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Okay! Grapesoda22 (talk) 01:58, 28 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Update: managed to expand guest star lists up to beginning of Season 2, but most episodes are now inaccessible and it takes much longer to work from IMDB, so I'm finished... for now. Cheers! Shir-El too 10:02, 25 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Nice work! Grapesoda22 (talk) 04:45, 27 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Black Dynamite.png

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Black Dynamite.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:27, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

May 2020

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at List of First Wave episodes. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. I don't know what you think you're doing with these edits here, and other articles, but they are somewhere between unnecessary to downright unhelpful. Please stick to edits that are actual article improvement, and not a bunch of WP:ILIKEIT edits to page code and headers. --IJBall (contribstalk) 00:22, 21 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@IJBall:
1. It's standard to have each season align with each-other. Considering that it's not hurting anything and I didn't change any information I would not call it "disruptive".
2. There aren't plot summaries for any episodes at all, which is why I feel that adding Template:No plot is appropriate. Grapesoda22 (talk) 01:13, 21 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Except that's not what I am talking about:
  1. You were mucking with the table code, removing carriage returns when there is reason to do this. This is the definition of a "not broken"-type edit – it's basically a pointless WP:ILIKEIT kind of thing. Now the columns widths things is not totally your (or my) fault) – it looks like an IP snuck bad column widths in in April when I wasn't looking – FTR, this is how the page looked before that: the columns were all the same width, so the IP screwed this up in April 2019.
  2. You changed the headers in the page away from strictly following MOS:DATERANGE, when it make zero sense to do this, as it leaves the page with mixed headers like "1999–2000" and "2000–01", which 1) doesn't follow MOS:DATERANGE, and 2) looks absolutely terrible, and is 3) inconsistent. Again, this one is not totally your fault – it looks like an IP snuck in bad date range in the 'Season 1' header in those same April 2019 edits.
  3. Finally, in the case of List of First Wave episodes, the tags aren't "wrong", but they are basically pointless – anyone looking at the article knows it is missing plot summaries. IOW, you don't need to tag this – it's obvious!
Finally, you also aren't abiding by WP:BRD – when you make a "bold" edit, and it is reverted, you then either leave it, or you discuss – you failed to do this at both List of First Wave episodes and at List of Make It Pop episodes, in the former case re-reverting weeks after the initial reversion: that's really bad form. In general, if an experienced editor reverts you, they probably have a good reason, and you should discuss their reasons with them rather than blindly reverting. But you are doing that now, so this is good. --IJBall (contribstalk) 02:08, 21 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I've tried to "standardize" the table widths for the first two seasons at List of First Wave episodes (no point in trying to repeat that in season #3 until somebody adds the directors and writers there too...). Hopefully you approve of this change... --IJBall (contribstalk) 03:31, 21 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@IJBall:
I reformatted the dates to match the standard formatting used on most episode lists, including high-profile featured-class lists (like List of The X-Files episodes or List of Seinfeld episodes), which regularly omit the first 2 digits of the final year the season aired. (with the exception of seasons ending in a different century from the one they started in.)

I realize that it is obvious that there are no plot summaries, but it's not necessarily abundantly clear to novice editors that summaries should be there. The lack of summaries is in-fact still an issue with the list that needs to be addressed, which is the reason the template exists in the first place. We wouldn't remove Template:Unreferenced from a page just because it's obvious that it doesn't have references.

Note: The two preceding points I just made were being written at the time your message came in. Thank you for "standardizing" the widths. Grapesoda22 (talk) 03:41, 21 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I realize that at many TV series articles two digit date ranges are used. But this is basically a WP:OSE arguments – two-digit date ranges are certainly not "required" in cases like this, and I just gave a very specific, very valid rationale why four-digit date ranges should be used in this case – in any article where a season crosses the "1999–2000" date range, then all the season headers should use four-digit date ranges for consistency's sake (and this actually explicitly follows MOS:DATERANGE's preferred style). Now I'm not going to monkey with the date ranges at List of The X-Files episodes, but I would certainly argue that they should be changed there, for the reasons I've outlined, and I would support changing them if it ever comes up. (Leaving that article's headers the way they are now looks absolutely horrible, IMO, and absolutely does lack consistency...) Bottom line: This is why it's a bad idea to simply robotically follow what MOS's say or what is done at other articles without thinking about it first. And, as I said – this article originally had all four-year date ranges in all of the season headers before that IP unjustifiably monkeyed with the season 1 header in April 2019. That should never have been changed in the first place. --IJBall (contribstalk) 03:49, 21 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@IJBall:
Okay, I'll leave the date formatting alone for this article. I still say we restore the "No plot" template for the reasons I stated above. I would also ask to have Template:TV.com episodes be restored as well, as it is an appropriate addition and it's parent template is already used in the main article. Grapesoda22 (talk) 05:24, 21 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you restore the 'No plot' template, do it at the "article level" (i.e. at the top), not in each section. I don't really care about the TV.com template – I don't think it's needed, as I consider it to be a "lesser" resource than IMDb or Epguides – but I won't oppose it. But I'd leave IMDb as the first listed 'EL'. --IJBall (contribstalk) 05:27, 21 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@IJBall: Okay. Grapesoda22 (talk) 05:40, 21 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Production Order

Seems this supposed rule of yours is not set in stone and, after I brought it up, it is now being hotly debated. While a consensus has not yet been reached as to what should take priority when listing episodes, most of the participants agree that it should not be production order. See Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Television#Proposed wording for episode ordering. –Nahald (talk) 02:17, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I am a firm believer that the official production order should be used. Networks can air episodes in any haphazard way they want for their convince, but at the end of the day the true order is the true order. I am following this, a comprehensive and refined episode from the official' network website, fetched recently within the past month. To say "Couples Skate" is the fourth episode would be a direct contradiction of the producers themselves. Grapesoda22 (talk) 04:36, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I should note that I have added the source to the table and have provided a note to explain the issue. Grapesoda22 (talk) 18:07, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Holden Caulfield.png

Thank you for uploading File:Holden Caulfield.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. DMacks (talk) 17:11, 25 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

South Park Paramount Films

Hey bud, just a courtesy FYI for you. Since the Paramount films are being classified as made-for-TV movies, and not episodes, I've moved the section you added about the Paramount films from the Episodes article to the main South Park article, because that article already has a section dedicated to films. These Paramount films should be classified there. I do agree with your setup of the main article and keeping the film separate from the rest of the episodes. Please feel free to reach out if you want to discuss this, I want to work together and keep these new films properly listed. Take care. - SanAnMan (talk) 15:57, 28 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@SanAnMan: These Paramount+ films are going to be classified as television films. The article for Post Covid already has a source confirming so. It has been a common practice here to list television films within episode lists. At this time, I don’t much interested in the matter, but it might be something worth discussing at a later date. But right now, all we really have is one title for one film. Grapesoda22 (talk) 01:04, 30 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Grapesoda22: Can you please give an example where a made-for-tv movie has previously been considered a regular television series episode? If you say it's been common practice, I'd like to know of an example or two please. Thank you. - SanAnMan (talk) 02:54, 30 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@SanAnMan: It is common. Examples: 1 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Grapesoda22 (talk) 21:53, 2 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Grapesoda22: Thanks for the feedback. I agree with you that this could seemingly go both ways. The examples you gave were all series that had their movies come out after the series had been cancelled, while in this case we have a movie going on while the series is still supposed to be airing. IMO a big deciding factor will be whether or not the plot of Post Covid lines up with the plotline and other canonical events of the last two specials or not, or if the events stand on their own like Bigger Longer & Uncut did. I've also opened up a request for discussion on the talk page at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Television for more input on this matter. - SanAnMan (talk) 17:06, 10 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@SanAnMan: This issue is something I myself am torn on. Treating films like episodes isn't generally something I'm for but I can see an argument for television films as they could arguably considered specials. I would say these films would be better listed under a "See also" tab. Grapesoda22 (talk) 04:12, 15 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
