Hello! Please leave me new messages at the bottom of the page. I usually notice messages soon, and I usually respond on your talk page if it is something urgent, so you get a "you have new messages" notice. For casual banter I am just as likely to respond here.

French Renaissance Music

Antandrus -- is there any way I could convince you to write a brief survey of renaissance music for French Renaissance (if you find the time!!)? You are the expert in these things, and the Renaissance music article lacks specificity on the French experience. Thanks-- NYArtsnWords 23:17, 20 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Really nice overview and a great addition to that page. Let me know if I can ever return the favor.--NYArtsnWords 01:52, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you!
Thank you!
Antandrus, thanks for your support on my RFA. I was rather suprised at the overwhelming support I received. Thank you for your confidence in me. I hope that I'll live up to your expectations in the future as well. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 05:45, 21 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

DYK

Updated DYK query Did you know? has been updated. A fact from the article Gherardello da Firenze, which you recently created, has been featured in that section on the Main Page. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

My RFA

Hey Antandrus! Thanks for your support on my RfA. The final outcome was an unanimous (45/0/0), so I am now an administrator. If you need help, or have a question, please don't hesitate to let me know! Again, thanks! :D --Eliezer | £€åV€ m€ å m€§§åg€ 03:32, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Antandrus, thanks for your support regarding Pfistermeister on Talk:Gustav Mahler. I gave him short shrift after his subsequent vitriolic attack. Now, he's been smarmy again at Talk:Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, so he copped it with both barrels again. How do I get to attract these people? Whatever happened to nice? BTW, I love the pic on your page. Cheers JackofOz 11:25, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Fisheaters

The links are being reinserted, but on a more selective basis. I am reverting them and putting messages on the Talk pages. What can be done because that name ßonaparte is almost identical with my user name, Bonaparte? Can be deleted as it was created for sure to vandalize my page, account User:ßonaparte must be deleted. Bonaparte talk 16:19, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Usernames can't be deleted. I blocked it indefinitely (that's standard procedure for impostors; we get them every day). I'll put an {{indefblockeduser}} on it. Antandrus (talk) 16:29, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I've created progress charts for WikiProject World music. Please come by and help document what we have! Hopefully, a record clearly showing where our holes in coverage lie will help move all world music articles along in the right direction. Tuf-Kat 19:06, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Semi-protection

Hi Encyclopedist,

I semi-protected your user page just now because of a vandalism spree. You can still edit, but anons and newly-logged-in users can't. Let me know if you'd like protection removed and I will at once. By the way, excellent work on Military history of African Americans; I noticed that go up yesterday. Keep up the good work and don't let the vandals get to you. Antandrus (talk) 22:04, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, I am sorry that people are so foolish as to think that they have the right to vandalize my page. Thank you again for protecting my page from vandalism, and I wish to keep this protection for a long while. Quick thanks for the compliment on the article as well, I hope I can get it to FA some day. εγκυκλοπαίδεια* 00:23, 24 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Help

I uploaded an image of Ari Meyers within the the accordance established by Wikipedia (source and licence) and someone put it up for deletion because "it is unencyclopedic". The image is of good taste and just because it is a wallpaper image I don't think it should be deleted. Please view and if you can, express your opinion. Images and media for deletion/2005 December 24 Thank you, Tony the Marine 03:44, 24 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with you; there's nothing wrong with using that image. By all means it should be kept. I posted to that effect on the page. Merry Christmas Tony! Antandrus (talk) 03:50, 24 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Antandrus,

I would like to thank you for your kind support on my RfA. I'll do my best to be a good administrator. If you need anything or if I ever do something I shouldn't have, please, don't hesitate to drop me a line. Izehar 16:46, 25 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hereford Troper

Hi, I see that you have done some fine work on some early music manuscripts. I have an interest in illuminated manuscrits and while looking around for info on Anglo-Saxon manuscripts, I came across the Hereford Troper (aka as the Cotton Troper) (British Library, Cotton Caligula A XIV). Here is the British Library catalog page (in Latin). here, here, here, and here are some images. (Click on the image on each page to get a larger copy. Are you familiar with this manuscript? How significant is it for music history? Is the musical notation 11th century addition, or is it a later addition? At some point I will be writing an article on this manuscript, based on its illumination, but I fear that I will be hopeless to discus from musicologist's point of view. Dsmdgold 16:31, 27 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dsmdgold,
Thanks for the note about the Hereford/Cotton Troper. That's marvelous! I didn't know about that manuscript until now, but I'd be happy to add to any article you start. There's a bit about it in the New Grove, and I can probably write some about the specific type of music notation it employs. It's dated from right around the time of the conquest (third quarter 11th century), and was probably copied at Winchester or Worcester.
Related question(s) -- do you know where we can get usable images, or if the images at the British Library can be used by Wikipedia? I need some for the Old Hall MS as well as for the (as yet unwritten) Winchester Troper. Best wishes, Antandrus (talk) 17:43, 27 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
On your related question first. The BL. like, all large instituitions. will tell you that their images are copyrighted. However under US law, mechanical reproductions of two dimensional works of art in the Public Domain are also in the public domain (see Bridgeman Art Library v. Corel Corp.). I have used images off the British Library site on Wikipedia. I am always carefull to crop the image so that there is no three dimensional aspect and scrub and or crop off the annoying red British Library logo that is often in the lower right corner. A nice image of the Old Hall manuscript is here. It even lacks the annoying logo!
As to the Cotton Troper, I will move its article to the top of my list and let you know when I get something up, probably not till later in the week though Dsmdgold 18:13, 27 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

greetings from ChoralWiki - CPDL

Hi, Antandrus... Good to see you register at CPDL. Thanks for your nice comments there. I left a short reply on your user talk page there. Chuck 00:38, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

OK...

So you claim Regara, Jake Remington and the North Carolina vandal are all the same. Can you show any edits made by one or the other that show these connections? 68.39.174.238 03:39, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

PS. BTW, Why is your usrpage protected?

Hmm

OK, indefinate preventative protection seems suspiscious but it's currently per page so ñ. Anyway I'm trying to cleanup/categorize deal with the vandal pages and accounts. Having a definitive setup for NCV/Remington/Regara and proof of interconnexion will help ;). 68.39.174.238 03:55, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Antandrus, Kat told me you might be interested in a little whim of mine at User:Kosebamse/stuff#Weep_o_mine_eyes. Suggestions are always welcome, and those based on personal experience of course even more. Thanks, Kosebamse 21:03, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Flourish

Would you happen to be familiar with a band piece where the first of 4 movements is called "Flourish"? --HappyCamper 03:17, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

This is driving me insane...I know the piece...I've played it...I know what it sounds like...is there an easy way of writing music for Wikipedia? I still do it by hand...Another one...have you heard something called the "Howard Symphony", or something similar to that. It has a beautiful French horn solo... --HappyCamper 03:27, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

...for your suggestions User:Kosebamse/stuff#Weep_o_mine_eyes (comments here). I would be grateful for a handful more opinions (but I don't want to make it a big project right now - it's just a whim after all), so if you know of another one or two Wikipedians with some expertise... Thanks again and a happy new year, Kosebamse 10:38, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

SHOCK SHOCK! Can you believe there wasn't an article about him already? Anyway...what's the right spelling? I'm confused. And where did you find all that terrific information about him? I was looking ALL OVER and couldn't find any. (such as birthdate, for example.) Thanks for helping!--ViolinGirl 15:30, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

What would be even more scarey is if Joshua Bell turned up red...but, I'm glad to know it won't. I'm glad to meet another violinist, too! I keep meeting more and more, for which I'm glad. At first, I thought we were almost extinct on Wikipedia! ;) I'll be working more tonight, so I'll see what I can do with him. (WEIRD about his name...have to figure that one out!) --ViolinGirl 15:39, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
