Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors

To report an error in content currently or imminently on the Main Page, use the appropriate section below.

• Where is the error? An exact quotation of the text in question helps.
• Offer a correction if possible.
• References are helpful, especially when reporting an obscure factual or grammatical error.
• Time zones. The Main Page runs on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC, currently 05:25 on 20 September 2024) and is not adjusted to your local time zone.
• Can you resolve the problem yourself? If the error lies primarily in the content of an article linked from the Main Page, fix the problem there before reporting it here. Text on the Main Page generally defers to the articles with bolded links. Upcoming content on the Main Page is usually only protected from editing beginning 24 hours before its scheduled appearance. Before that period, you can be bold and fix any issues yourself.
• Do not use {{edit fully-protected}} on this page, which will not get a faster response. It is unnecessary, because this page is not protected, and causes display problems because this is not a talk page. (See the bottom of this revision for an example.)
• No chit-chat. Lengthy discussions should be moved to a suitable location elsewhere, such as the talk page of the relevant article or project.
• Respect other editors. Another user wrote the text you want changed, or reported an issue they see in something you wrote. Everyone's goal should be producing the best Main Page possible. The compressed time frame of the Main Page means sometimes action must be taken before there has been time for everyone to comment. Be civil to fellow users.
• Reports are removed when resolved. Once an error has been addressed or determined not to be an error, or the item has been rotated off the Main Page, the report will be removed from this page. Check the revision history for a record of any discussion or action taken; no archives are kept.

Tesla Motors

The link for the Tesla Motors item is unclear. Could the blurb referring to to the section that refers to the patents [[[Tesla_Motors#Technology_sharing]]. Something like below:

  Maybe I am not understanding the issue: isn't that "Easter egg" the whole story? Wouldn't a link to the specific section that relates to the story be more valuable then links to the main company page and the article about patents?   I agree, it's a little confusing. For a ITN article this is odd; it doesn't link to the event, but to the related company, and this event isn't even in that article's header...? This leaves the reader scrolling through the article trying to find the detail. A link to the section would help, as this is not intuitive for those people who aren't familiar with Tesla and their business.onebravemonkey 11:08, 16 June 2014 (UTC)

NBA blurb

This report is confusing, as the NBA blurb was posted about six hours later. Perhaps you meant "NHL". Regardless, "Los Angeles Kings" or "San Antonio Spurs" is considered plural in any English variety, so "defeat" is inherently correct. —David Levy 09:15, 17 June 2014 (UTC)

Errors in the current or next Did you know...

that the peal of bells in St John the Evangelist's Church, Kirkham is said to have been the first to be rung in a Catholic church since the Reformation?

Aside from the offense to just plain common sense and everyday experience, this is cited to two websites which themselves carry the fig leaf of "is said to be", without saying who is doing the saying. This kind of extraordinary claim needs to be rooted in a source with some kind of authority. (I suspect that what's meant is "first in an English" Catholic church since the Reformation.)

Looking through the article's supporting sources, I believe your suspicion that the claim is limited to England is correct. Appropriate addition has been added to the hook. --Allen3 ^talk 14:49, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
