An animation of the constellation Gemini (center), "the twins", shows two parallel stick figures. Gemini is associated with the myth of Castor and Polydeuces (also known as Pollux), collectively known as the Dioscuri.[2][3]

Gemini is the third astrological sign in the Zodiac, originating from the constellation of Gemini. In western astrology, this sign is no longer aligned with the constellation as a result of the precession of the equinoxes. In astrology, Gemini is considered a "masculine", positive (extrovert) sign. It is also considered an air sign, and is one of four mutable signs.[4] Gemini has been closely associated with the planet Mercury and is considered to be ruled by it.

Individuals born when the Sun was in this sign are considered Gemini individuals. Under the tropical zodiac, the Sun is in the sign of Gemini roughly from May 21 to June 21.[5] Under the sidereal zodiac, it is currently there roughly from June 15 to July 15.

Astrological qualities and associations

Being the third sign in the zodiac, Gemini is associated with the astrological 3rd house, which is associated with natural Gemini matters - communications, siblings, neighbors and neighborhood matters, local travel and transport, education, everyday matters, brothers.

Gemini is considered to be the domicile of the planet Mercury, and therefore is ruled by it. Mercury is also often associated with the aforementioned matters. Virgo is also a domicile of Mercury.

Mythology

Gemini is associated with the Greek myth of Castor (or Kastor) and Pollux and with the Greco-Roman god Hermes/Mercury and sometimes also the gods Loki, Asklepios/Aesculapius, and Veles and the goddesses Eris/Discordia, Hebe, and Ate. Being twins, Gemini can also sometimes be associated with the Greek twins Apollo and Artemis.

The astrological symbol for Gemini is the Roman numeral for two, to represent the twins and duality.

Astrologers broadly agree that the following are the characteristics of Gemini:[6]

Physical traits

Many astrologers believe that each of the zodiac signs has identifiable physical traits, which may be a mix of the Sun sign and the sign of the ascendant. Many believe that physically, individuals born with an ascendant of Gemini tend to have a straight and narrow nose, long limbs, a well-proportioned chin, large ears, high cheekbones, a wide mouth, a roundish head, coarsely-textured hair, large hands and long fingers. [9]

Compatibilities

Gemini is widely thought to be compatible with: Aquarius [10] ; Libra [10]

There are many variables that determine compatibility in astrology, such as birth dates, birth months, birth years, position of a sign within the Sun, the Moon, Stars, etc. The signs listed as compatible with Gemini do not reflect an individual profile or individual reading as interpreted within astrology, but rather reflect a general guideline and reference to compatibility as dictated by variables such as Qualities and Elements within the Zodiac.
