The 2024–25 season is Portsmouth Football Club's first season back in the Championship, since the 2011–12 season following their promotion from League One in the previous season. In addition to the domestic league, the club will also participate in the FA Cup, beginning with the Third Round in January 2025.

Portsmouth exited the EFL Cup in the First Round after a 0–1 loss to Millwall F.C. on 13 August 2024.

EFL Championship clubs do not participate in the EFL Trophy competition.

Pre-season and friendlies

On May 31, Pompey announced their first three pre-season friendlies, against Gosport Borough, Havant & Waterlooville and Bognor Regis Town.[23] A fourth was confirmed five days later, versus Milton Keynes Dons.[24] In June, the club announced a pre-season training camp in Pula, Croatia.[25] On 1 July, Portsmouth added a fifth pre-season opposition, away to Charlton Athletic.[26]
