Business career
PNN Group Holdings
The PAI Capital website says: “Mr Piriyev has successfully developed numerous projects in Russia, Central Asia and the Far East over the past 15 years. In addition, through a former subsidiary, Buta Fashion Group, PNN Group previously owned the franchise and distribution rights in Azerbaijan for prominent fashion, jewelry and accessory brands including Alfred Dunhill, DeBeers Diamond Jewelers, Nina Ricci, Brunello Cucinelli and others. Buta Fashion Group was sold in 2015 and PNN Group retained the rights to the DeBeers Jewelers and Steinway & Sons brands.[4][5][6]
Woodford Finance, a London-based venture capital firm led by Piriyev.
It will be registered in Malta under the name 360 Holdings Ltd and serve as a subsidiary to Piriyev’s UK-based PNN Group Holdings, PNN has businesses across the former Soviet Union and Afghanistan, with interests in the energy, finance, food, luxury and media sectors.[7][8]
PAI Capital
In 2021, he led a consortium that tried to take over English Premier League side West Ham United in a £400 million (€470 million) purchase. The deal fell through, with club owner David Sullivan saying the Piriyev-led consortium had “zero interest in the football side and saw it as a property move”. [7] PAI Capital has made a bid of £400 million for the Premier League side but West Ham chairman and majority shareholder David Sullivan dismissed the offer, describing it as “derisory”, and claimed the London-based group “never produced any proof of funds”. This follows an earlier statement from PAI Capital partner and former QPR chief executive Phillip Beard, who said the £400 million offer was “in fact the figure that David Sullivan had initially asked for. Nasib Piriyev, a 40-year-old entrepreneur, who was privately educated in Oxford before studying at the American International University in London, is a co-founder and partner of PAI Capital and PAI International. Nasib Piriyev has sponsored several polo events, including one that saw Prince Harry and Prince William compete against each other in 2014.[9]
Later, Piriyev also showed interest in acquiring Derby County Football Club, but nothing came out of it. Piriyev made his fortune as co-founder of PNN Group, an oil and gas behemoth he established in 1993 together with his father Nizami, a former executive at Russian energy giant Gazprom.[7][10]
Piriyev and his father have clashed with the Azeri government. Azeri authorities arrested his father in May 2015 and issued an Interpol arrest notice for the London-based Nasib Piriyev that same year. They say PNN Group did not repay a massive loan it obtained from the state-owned Azerbaijan International Bank.[7]
PAI Capital are fronted up by Azerbaijanian businessman Nasib Piriyev and former Queens Park Rangers chief executive Philip Beard.[11]
