Pogoń or Pahonia (Belarusian: Пагоня) or Pagaunia is a word used to describe the coat of arms of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The term was possibly first applied by Marcin Bielski in the 16th century.[1] The arms represent a Knight-in-pursuit, known as Vytis, and meaning the chase. It has been used by several noble families, like the Sokolski (Pogoń Ruska coat of arms) and the Czartoryski families.
