Vega4 |
---|
Vega4 were a four-piece band formed in London. Johnny McDaid was the band's lead vocalist and was joined on guitar by Bruce Gainsford. Gavin Fox was the band's bassist while Bryan McLellan played the drums.
McDaid and Fox are from Ireland, McLellan is from Canada and Gainsford is from New Zealand. Vega4 was signed to Columbia Records in the UK, Epic Records in the USA, and produced one album, You and Others produced by Jacknife Lee (U2, Snow Patrol, Bloc Party). The band played at the 2006 SXSW festival.
Gavin Fox, formerly of the band Idlewild, joined Vega4 in December 2006 when bassist Simon Walker left.
Vega4 premiered in the US when its single "Life is Beautiful" was featured on the November 2, 2006 episode of Grey's Anatomy.
"Life Is Beautiful" was also recently featured on Episode 416, 'Prom Night At Hater High', of One Tree Hill.
"Life Is Beautiful" is also currently heard in the trailers for the new ABC dramedy Pushing Daisies.
"Life is Beautiful" was also heard in the second half of Season 2 premiere in Kyle XY's episode To C.I.R. with Love
Vega4 topped the Irish charts in the last quarter of 2006 and broke sales records, with its hit "You and Me", when it was used by RTÉ 2fm to re-launch the station's new look and lineup. The band completed its first U.S. tour on April 14, 2007 in San Diego, California. Vega4 had been touring with Augustana for the previous several weeks. The band is receiving much media attention in the U.S. with major radio support for "Life Is Beautiful" and the rumors of Gainsford's on-again, off-again romance with Scarlett Johansson.
