Past perfect tense
[edit | edit source]- ‹bud› (“he/she had written”)
“the door of the house” | |||||||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
در خانه | |||||||||||
نوشته | بود | ||||||||||
← | ‹nevešte› | ‹bud› | |||||||||
← | “written” | “(he/she) had” |
In spoken Persian, /-e/ of the past participle elides with the copular clitic, making the past perfect sound like the simple past in all but the third singular, where the final /-e/ is still pronounced.
