Past perfect tense

‹bud› (“he/she had written”)

		“the door of the house”
	در خانه
	نوشته	بود
←	‹nevešte›	‹bud›
←	“written”	“(he/she) had”

In spoken Persian, /-e/ of the past participle elides with the copular clitic, making the past perfect sound like the simple past in all but the third singular, where the final /-e/ is still pronounced.
