edit⟨ʳ⟩ and ⟨ʴ⟩ are obsolete as generic IPA markers of a rhotic vowel. However, especially narrow transcription of English dialects may indicate a rhotic vowel with a more-precise choice of articulation than ⟨◌˞⟩, such as ⟨ᶹ⟩, ⟨ʴ⟩ or ⟨ʵ⟩, for example [ɑᶹ], [ɑʴ] or [ɑʵ] for phonemic /ɑ˞/.
In a supporting font, the diacritic will accommodate superscript letters, such as ⟨ᵊ˞ ᶟ˞⟩
