Feature request for CFDLister

edit

Hi Qwerfjkl! Hope you are doing well. Would you be able to update CFDlister to make use of the copy=1 feature (example)? It adds a handy button to copy the text within the code block to the clipboard, which makes processing listing just that much easier. Best, HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 01:36, 20 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

@HouseBlaster, done. (I did this without testing, so here's hoping I didn't break anything.) Qwerfjkltalk 14:50, 20 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Seems to be working; as always: Thank you very much :) HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 20:20, 20 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Question from RebootedcookieTV (02:15, 21 December 2024)

edit

Hello! How do I create a page for myself just to be cool (joke) and how do I edit some pages? --RebootedcookieTV (talk) 02:15, 21 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

@RebootedcookieTV, you can put whatever you want on your userpage User:RebootedcookieTV (see WP:USERPAGE for more detailed guidelines). Are you thinking of editing particular pages, or are you asking how to edit any page? Qwerfjkltalk 12:05, 21 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Happy holidays!

edit
  Happy holidays and a prosperous 2025!

Qwerfjkl, you were the first person to send me a holiday card on Wikipedia. Thank you; this year I am returning the favor. It is a testament to your skill as a coder that CFDlister is robust enough to continue as an essential part of my work at CFD with the mop. You are always responsive to bug reports and feature requests concerning those tools, not to mention the countless newbies you help via the Growth Team mentorship program. Wishing the best to you and yours in 2025 :) HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 02:40, 22 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Adenosine Tri-Phosphate (disambiguation)

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Adenosine Tri-Phosphate (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
  • disambiguates zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
  • is an orphaned redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 14:51, 22 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Watchlist emails down?

edit

Just realised I haven't been getting notifications recently, thought I'd check. Primefac (talk) 13:08, 23 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Primefac, FWIW you can check the status of the tool at https://k8s-status.toolforge.org/namespaces@/tool-watchlistemail/. In this case nothing looked particularly wrong, but I restarted the job and hopefully that will resolve any problems. — Qwerfjkltalk 13:32, 23 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, I would add that to my bookmarks but it seems to not work? The restart seems to have fixed it though. Primefac (talk) 13:48, 23 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Primefac, oops, I meant https://k8s-status.toolforge.org/namespaces/tool-watchlistemail/ Qwerfjkltalk 14:27, 23 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Wtmitchell, when you added

I assume you meant to add | instead of } before title=? — Qwerfjkltalk 19:33, 28 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes. Thanks. I fixed my typo, then I made another fix to remove the nowiki text the bot had inserted into the cite. Wtmitchell (talk) (earlier Boracay Bill) 06:26, 29 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Wtmitchell, I'm not sure what you mean by the bot had inserted - you added it. Qwerfjkltalk 13:20, 29 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
You're no doubt right and I had forgotten doing that. I've been snowed under off wiki lately. I've been trying to keep some WP activity going but I've been rushing and shortcutting that -- it seems like I relied on faulty memory here instead of checking the edit history. Apologies. Quick question. I have figured out how to edit pages/articles, but how does one go about creating one?

Thanks for your time. --GovernorJason (talk) 00:26, 29 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Biographical articles without infoboxes

edit

Thanks for your work on adding Wikiprojects to talk pages!

You might want to look at https://quarry.wmcloud.org/query/72401, which is a database query for biographical articles that lack infoboxes, which is both much simpler and seemingly more reliable than using ORES. While you won't be able to run that copy of the query yourself, you can easily fork your own copy on Quarry and edit and run your own copy there.

There is a "download" button that allows the entire query result to be downloaded in a variety of formats, including CSV and TSV, suitable for loading into a bot.

I can easily create other similar queries for other WikiProjects, if you want them. — The Anome (talk) 12:34, 31 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

How do I delete this Wikipedia page? It was intended as a joke, but the page was actually made. --Journeyman7610 (talk) 00:00, 3 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Journeyman7610, given that your account has not created any pages, you will have to specify whicch page you are talking about. — Qwerfjkltalk 14:05, 3 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

African floods (disambiguation)

edit

Hi Qwerfjkl, I’ve just nominated African floods (disambiguation) for deletion because nothing links to it (apart from a couple of users tracking dab redirects) and the page it redirects to is effectively a list which would be a clearer link if ever needed. Hope that’s OK. If not, please remove the deletion template from the page. Thanks. --Northernhenge (talk) 18:11, 4 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

It was deleted very quickly! - -Northernhenge (talk) 19:27, 4 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
I have no problem. I track all of the redirects I've created in my watchlist, so I get notified if they are edited/deleted. — Qwerfjkltalk 19:37, 4 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Riteze (talk) 09:42, 7 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Riteze, well, the problem here is that you used wikidata content (per Wikipedia:Wikidata#Appropriate usage in articles it is not appropriate to use wikidata content in article running text). — Qwerfjkltalk 16:24, 7 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the info. That is based on a discussion regarding adding blue links to wikidata pages. In this case, just a property was fetched. This becomes needful when a given specific data is mentioned at multiple places in multiple pages. Riteze (talk) 17:15, 7 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
Riteze, I'm afraid you're looking at the wrong part:
It is, on the other hand, not appropriate to use Wikidata in article text on English Wikipedia (their emphasis) at this time ... while running text is clearly not suitable for Wikidata use (my emphasis)— Qwerfjkltalk 17:26, 7 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Newystats (talk) 22:26, 7 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

I see now that this is a no title in cite web error. Why is this error called a bare URL error? I thought a bare URL error meant [1] and the like.
