Hello, I'm 10mmsocket. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Ashton-under-Lyne, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. See WP:UGC fandom wiki is not a reliable source WP:RS 10mmsocket (talk) 09:29, 29 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hey, man. Good to see you again. Listen, I'm sorry about that. It's just that I couldn't find sources even though its been proven true. What I'm talking about is Reddit but that isn't a reliable source either. So yeah, sorry, man. I'll try harder to find a source 94.10.105.239 (talk) 13:45, 29 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Milton Keynes

edit

There are four entities called Milton Keynes:

  1. City of Milton Keynes: the borough, it contains over 50 parishes
  2. Milton Keynes, the new city
  3. Milton Keynes (civil parish), the original one
  4. Milton Keynes Village

Make that five if you include Central Milton Keynes, also CP. --๐•๐•„๐”ฝ (talk) 20:14, 30 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, thank you, I know that already. Anything you're trying to tell me? sorry i haven't checked the milton keynes page yet, ill check that soon 94.10.105.239 (talk) 20:34, 30 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@JMF ive just checked. I'd like to discuss with you on why you reverted it 94.10.105.239 (talk) 20:35, 30 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'll help you with your knowledge. Go to this link. Check the [a] citation in the first sentence. The civil parish and city are the same @JMF 94.10.105.239 (talk) 20:37, 30 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
the only real difference is that the civil parish only includes 2 suburbs or so 94.10.105.239 (talk) 20:38, 30 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
No, you've misread something critical because your conclusion doesn't match reality. Milton Keynes the civil parish predates the city but is only a tiny part of it. Reading from top left across, the city parishes include Stony Stratford, Wolverton and Greenleys, New Bradwell, Stantonbury, Gt Linford, etc etc. Need I go on? There are about 25 CPs in the urban area. ๐•๐•„๐”ฝ (talk) 23:18, 30 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I think I can guess your misunderstanding, because it's complicated. Read Middleton, Milton Keynes again.
  • Milton Keynes (the village that that gave its name to the new city) is now part of ...
  • ... the neighborhood ("grid square") called Middleton, which is ....
  • ... in turn one of the neighbourhoods that comprise the civil parish called [drum roll] Milton Keynes, which in turn...
  • ... is just one of the 25ish CPs in the urban area.
MK is unlike, say, Luton and Northampton which only have one CP for everything. ๐•๐•„๐”ฝ (talk) 23:31, 30 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Oh, my apologies. You have me corrected there. 94.10.105.239 (talk) 08:41, 31 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Citations in lead

edit

There is no prohibition on the use of citations in the lead section per MOS:LEADCITE when the material being cited is not redundant with content in the article body; MOS:CITELEAD requires citations for content specific to the lead ("there is no exception to citation requirements specific to leads"). It is appropriate per WP:V and MOS:PRON#Placement to cite a reliable source for pronunciation guides, which are by convention placed after the head words in the lead. --Muchness (talk) 03:21, 4 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Tour Teahouse query

edit

You have not registered an account, have been editing for less than a month, and asked for help in a dispute with an editor who has been doing thousands of copyedits to articles over a period of many years. Please find another way to contribute to Wikipedia. David notMD (talk) 08:46, 6 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

(my ip changed for some reason) oh yeah im so sorry for doing what I was asked to do and trying to solve a dispute between someone who is taking valuable information from an article.
