Corizon is an enterprise mashup software vendor focused on customer service and contact applications headquartered in London, UK. It was founded in 2000 as Genient Ltd by CEO Eric Guilloteau. The company changed its name to Corizon in November 2003. Corizon is privately held and backed by investors including Atlas Venture and LMS Capital.
Corizon's customer base includes clients such as BT Group, Homeserve, KPN and the Student Loans Company. Corizon's partner network includes major systems integrators (SIs) and technology partners including Oracle, Capgemini, Attachmate and Logica.
History
edit2000-05: The early years of enterprise mashups
editIn 2000 the company - then named Genient - was founded by CEO Eric Guilloteau in London, UK. The company deployed its first enterprise mashup in 2001.
In 2003 the company changed its name to Corizon and released its first product, the Corizon Enterprise Mashup Platform.
2006-present: Growth years
editCorizon grew its network of partners with the September 2008 announcement of Oracle integration and secured deals with Homeserve, KPN and the Student Loans Company. It won Best use of Technology in the European Call Centre Awards for the HomeServe enterprise mashup in 2008. Corizon was a finalist in the UK Business Technology Awards in 2006 and 2007 and was shortlisted in the CNET 2007 technology awards for Best Enterprise Software.
In September 2008 Corizon announced support for composite applications in Oracle Application Integration Architecture. Corizon extends the process-based integrations that AIA facilitates across Oracle, third party and custom applications, all the way to the User Interface (UI) and user process.
In December 2008, Corizon released its solution accelerator for Siebel which was the first extension of its Enterprise Mashup Platform. In May 2009 Corizon released its solution accelerator for Oracle E-Business Suite to support users of Oracle.
The latest developments include thick client integration whereby local applications and/or local data on a user's personal computer can be mashed into a composite application.
Technology
editCorizon Enterprise Mashup Platform
editThe Corizon Enterprise Mashup Platform provides an up-to-date framework for building, modelling, and running composite applications. It has been specifically designed to take the benefits of a mashup and UI approach to development and apply these to the enterprise’s need for agility combined with security, scalability, and reliability.[1]
The platform delivers rapid integration to a wide range of enterprise and web based technologies by allowing the creation of visual, mashable components, 'UI Services', using a standards-based RESTful interface.
Line of business staff combine UI Services using composition tools (Studio) and run-time (Composer) to create enterprise mashups.
- Studio provides user process model creation as well as drag and drop creation of page composition from UI Services
- Composer provides highly scalable run-time deployment using the model created in the Studio. It is deployed in a standard servlet container, and provides out of the box support for SSO, clustering and monitoring of both user and application activity.
Using the Corizon platform, BT built an enterprise mashup which provides their agents with a single view of each customer's fault situation. The solution supports around 1,000 concurrent users, fielding up to 30,000 calls per day.[1]
Average project timescales for initial implementations vary dependent upon project scope: focused process-specific implementations take six to eight weeks from beginning to end; larger projects have been delivered in around 90 days.[1]

Solution Accelerator for Siebel
editThe solution accelerator for Siebel allows mashing components from other applications into a Siebel application.

Solution Accelerator for Oracle E-Business Suite
editThe solution accelerator for Oracle E-Business Suite is designed to mashup Oracle's business software suite, which includes customer relationship management (CRM), enterprise resource planning (ERP), financial and project management, human resources and supply chain management software. In the same vein as the accelerator for Siebel, it allows for the mashup of third-party applications into any applications within Oracle E-Business Suite.
Thick Client Extender and Thick Client Extractor
editThe Corizon Thick Client Extender & Extractor allow the functionality of legacy or hard to change thick client Windows desktop applications by non-invasively modifying the user interface of the thick client application to link to mashups or other applications.
The thick client UI Service 'Extender' requires no modification to the thick client applications. It dynamically accesses integrations at run-time on the desktop to allow them to be included in process based enterprise mashups. The 'Extractor' presents these extensions as RESTful interfaces to Corizon's Composer tool.
