The current wording of this article is like a court judgement. An encyclopedia article would introduce the concept in the lead section and briefly sumarise the concept's origins and history, issues, constitutionality, decision of the courts and fate of the concept, all within 1-4 paragraphs. Then there would be separate sections that cover and expand upon each aspect mentioned in the lead section as well as other things relevant to the subject. In this case, why do the Adultery laws exist? What is their heritage? Is it something imposed by colonial rule or of Indian traditions? Why did it exist in the first place? What unfairness did the laws permit to happen? I suspect half an article can be rewritten from the content there now, but what is missing is the history of where the law came from and the inequities it lead to. The current article structure does not really lend itself to simple editing because so much context is missing before we get to what has been written. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 06:02, 7 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Rewritten the lead section so it is more comprehensible. All the information is there in the sources or the article, it just needs to be pulled together in the right way and written in the appropriate language. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 07:03, 7 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
