Julian Huppert is a candidate for MP for Cambridge in the 2010 General Election. He stands for the Liberal Democrats, replacing the previously elected David Howarth.

Julian lives in Cambridge having moved there as a small child. Having gone to school in the city, Julian continued on to join Cambridge University, studying for a PhD in Biological Chemistry. He now works as a research scientist studying the structures of DNA. In his spare time Julian works as a volunteer for St John Ambulance where he has trained as an Ambulance Technician.

During his 8 years serving as a County Councillor for East Chesterton, Julian helped open Brown's Field Community Centre, chaired the Cambridge Traffic Management Committee and served on the Regional Assembly. His long-standing interest in Internationalism, the UN and human rights has lead him to his current position on the National Council of Liberty, formerly the National Council for Civil Liberties.
