In the presence of H.E. Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt, Dr. Mohamed Shaker, the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, and Dr. Hala H. Elsaid, the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Hassan Allam Utilities, alongside Infinity Power, Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company), and bp, signed a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) to investigate the potential for a multi-phase green hydrogen (gH2) project in Egypt.   The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the Egypt EU Investment Conference by Karim Hefzy, Chief Operating Officer of Hassan Allam Utilities; Nader Zaki, bp’s Regional President, Middle East and North Africa; Mohamed I. Mansour, Chairman of Infinity Power; and Andreas Bieringer, Director, Green Hydrogen Business Development and Commercial, Masdar. The partners are combining their respective gH2 projects in Egypt and will also explore the potential for a single large-scale, multi-phase project for the development of gH2 and its derivatives, with a focus on exports. The newly formed consortium has signed a Framework Agreement (FWA) with the Egyptian government to start carrying out a set of studies and activities to evaluate the technical and commercial feasibility of the project.   Amr Allam, Co-CEO Hassan Allam Holding, said: "Joining forces with bp, Masdar, and Infinity Power in this consortium is a significant step towards advancing the development of green hydrogen and anchoring Egypt as a key player in this sector. In the presence of H.E. Moustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt and H.E. Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy of Egypt, Hassan Allam Utilities, alongside Infinity Power and Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company), signed today a Land Access Agreement with the Egyptian Government for the consortium’s 10GW capacity onshore wind farm in Egypt, set to be one of the largest in the world, with a project value exceeding US$10 billion. The agreement was signed by Karim Hefzy, Chief Operating Officer at Hassan Allam Utilities, Mohamed I. Mansour, Chairman of Infinity Power, and Dr. Mohamed Asaad Taher, Senior Manager, Business Development and Investment at Masdar. The signing was attended by Eng. Nayer Fouad, CEO, Infinity Power, Omar Hosny, Vice President of Operations at Hassan Allam Utilities, Hisham El Gamal, Director of Governmental Affairs, Infinity Power, and and Tarik Afachtal, Senior Manager, Business Development and Investment at Masdar. The Consortium will have access to a 3025 km2 area of land located in West Suhag to conduct the necessary development studies to progress the project. This will include resource measurement campaigns, geotechnical and topographic surveys, in addition to the environmental studies to ensure minimal environmental impact. The landmark wind project will produce 47,790 GWh of clean energy per year and cut around 9 percent of Egypt’s annual carbon emissions by displacing 23.8 million tonnes of carbon dioxide annually. The wind farm will also help Egypt meet its strategic objective of sourcing 42 percent of its energy from renewables by 2030. The 10 GW wind farm will save the country an estimated US$5 billion in natural gas costs per year.
