H&M Foundation launched a new round of Global Change Award with the mission to accelerate innovation for a net-zero industry by 2050. Through a large network of nominators, the GCA is searching for passionate individuals – systems thinkers, creatives, researchers, entrepreneurs and more - who are addressing high emission areas along the textile value chain. The innovation should be early-stage and focus on sustainable materials and processes, responsible production, mindful consumption or be a wildcard that supports the GCA purpose. We can’t wait to see the winners in April! Building networks for textile waste to find best recycling opportunities and build circularity for fashion.
About us
Reverse Resources is a Software-as-a-Service (Saas) platform for major global fashion brands, their garment suppliers and recycling partners to cooperation on closing the loop for production leftovers. With making leftover information from garment factories visible online, we enable virtual traceability of fabrics through circular life-cycles from factory onwards. RR platform connects the full supply chain of textile waste from source to recycling, and all stakeholders involved in these supply chains. We enable mapping volumes of waste by composition, type and location, match it with the best possible recycling solution, build and manage efficient and transparent supply chains of delivering the waste at best cost and quality, and capture and analyse data throughout the transactions to build market insight and traceability of the material flows. We work across 10+ countries in Europe, Asia and North-Africa along and move 1000+ tonnes of textile waste each month. Through numerous large collaboration projects we interact with 30+ largest global fashion brands and all largest textile-to-textile recyclers who are producing high-end recycled textile materials already on industrial scale.

Thank you National Textile University for hosting the KnowTex 2nd National Conference on Recycling in Textile, and to all the facilities that warmly welcomed Nin Castle and Manzoor Fareed Hashmi during their visits. They both had insightful conversations with stakeholders, manufacturers, and recyclers, which will be key in advancing our work on the Sustainable Manufacturing and Environmental Pollution, The SMEP Programme (SMEP), that aims to address the environmental and health impacts of the manufacturing sector in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, and some of the most pressing challenges associated with plastic pollution. We learned that many recycling and vertically integrated facilities are doing impressive work, but are not fully communicating their efforts to the wider industry. There is a lot of untapped potential to promote these initiatives and collaborate more effectively with local recyclers. We see a great opportunity to support these facilities in their transition and help them achieve broader recognition. We appreciate the time and collaboration from everyone involved, and look forward to continuing to build on these valuable partnerships. At TAG 2024, the conversation wasn't just about textiles - it was about the future of our planet. Ranjit Sasi, RR’s Director of Business and Operations in India, took the stage at FICCI's (Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry) 15th annual Textile Conference, tackling the critical theme of sustainability, digitalisation and innovation in the industry. As a speaker in the panel discussion on “Realigning Business to Build a Sustainable Industry”, Ranjit shared actionable insights on how collaboration across the value chain can: 1. Drive the adoption of cutting-edge technologies 2. Create innovative business models that drives circularity 3. Turn sustainability into a competitive advantage It was an inspiring opportunity to connect with brilliant minds who are paving the way for this change! Shout-out to Rahul Bhajekar, Jyoti Prakash Mohapatra-JPM, Tapan kumar Rout, Gurudas Aras, ROOP RASHI MAHAPATRA, and Ullhas Nimkar for the great discussions and driving change. The road ahead is clear: by working together, we can transform the industry and shape a future where the textile industry thrives responsibly.

At the upcoming 2nd National Conference on Recycling in Textile, our Co-founder & Chief Program Officer, Nin Castle, will dive into the crucial work we’re doing under the The SMEP Programme (Sustainable Manufacturing and Environmental Pollution). Funded by the UK’s Foreign Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO) and implemented in partnership with UNCTAD, SMEP is all about driving innovation from the ground up in Pakistan’s textile industry. Here’s a peek into what we’ve been working on: 1️⃣ Data production systems: - Building a countrywide database on recycling networks & capacity - Digitising waste flows to improve traceability - Creating GRS digitisation & impact assessments to enhance product passports - Sharing key insights across the industry to scale impact 2️⃣ Recovery & upcycling of textile residues: - Strengthening the recycling network to recover textile waste - Establishing full traceability from waste to recyclers - Exploring the possibilities of post-consumer waste recycling in Pakistan Nin will present not only the country's findings but also how Reverse Resources is supporting this mission from scratch, paving the way for a more circular textile economy. Join the conversation and learn more about the innovative systems transforming textile waste in Pakistan. Reverse Resources reposted this
Textile Exchange's most recent Materials Market Report (September 2024) highlights that, despite increasing innovation and global interest in textile-to-textile recycling, it still accounts for less than 1% of the global fiber market. These findings emphasize the importance of investing in and promoting the expansion of this industry to lessen the dependence on virgin synthetics (as aptly expressed by Textile Exchange's CEO in the quote below). The SMEP Programme is very proud to be funding Reverse Resources in their endeavour to create the demand for textile-to-textile recycling in Bangladesh and Pakistan (post-industrial and post-consumer textile waste). Their collaboration with Dr. Yasir Nawab, FHEA and the National Textile University in Pakistan is crucial in driving this change among local textile suppliers and recyclers. We are looking forward to engaging the project team on the outcomes of this relevant and timely conference. Nin Castle Mumit Hasan Marius Golden ------ "Unlocking textile-to-textile recycling pathways will be essential to reducing reliance on virgin synthetics. Equally important is continuing to support those on the ground who are driving the transition from conventional systems to preferred materials. It is more urgent than ever to support those who have already invested in preferred systems, while also enabling the transition away from conventional at scale." Claire Bergkamp, CEO, Textile Exchange -----
