The keel-laying ceremony for Oceaya, the world’s first modular floating multi-purpose entertainment venue, took place September 12, 2024, at the Marketex Marine assembly shop in Tallinn, with representatives from Marketex Marine, MEYER Floating Solutions, Oceaya LLC, and the world’s largest classification society, DNV GL, taking center stage as key figures of the event.   In keeping with tradition, a metal plaque bearing the names of the commissioning company and the shipbuilders, decorated with coins representing the participating countries, was affixed to the first block of the platform. The event was marked by the ceremonial signing of a document commemorating the occasion and the next phase in the construction of the Oceaya platform.   The Oceaya floating platform, designed to be adjusted in shape and size to suit the needs of various events, can seamlessly relocate across the globe. Elme Trans helped relocate two rhinoceroses to Tallinn Zoo. Our 130-ton crane and expert team assisted in lifting Binti and Elba, two elderly female rhinoceroses from a Czech safari park, to their new indoor enclosure, where vehicle access was not possible. Each rhinoceros weighs over one ton, and with the transport crates, each lift exceeded three tons! Tallinn Zoo praised the precision and professionalism of our crane operators. We are thrilled that animal lovers can now meet these long-awaited residents. As part of an official visit to Lithuania, Estonian Minister of Infrastructure Vladimir Svet toured BLRT Grupp’s shipyard facilities in Klaipėda. BLRT Grupp, one of the largest industrial holding in the Baltic Sea region with its headquarters in Tallinn, plays a key role in the region's maritime sector. The visit highlights the strong ties between Estonia and Lithuania, with BLRT Grupp being the largest Estonian capital investor in Lithuania through its subsidiary, the WESTERN SHIPYARD GROUP. During the visit, Minister Svet was welcomed by Arnoldas Šileika, the CEO of the Western Shipyard Group and Honorary Consul of Estonia in Klaipėda. The tour included an overview of BLRT’s shipbuilding yard Western Baltija Shipbuilding and repair yard BLRT REPAIR YARDS , with a special focus on ongoing projects, such as the construction of a fully electric waste collection vessel for the Port of Klaipėda, built in collaboration with Baltic Workboats Ltd. This project exemplifies the company's commitment to reducing environmental impacts in port waters. BLRT Grupp’s Lithuanian branch is also home to the largest floating dock in the Baltic States and stands as one of the largest employers in Klaipėda and the surrounding region. CEO Arnoldas Šileika emphasized the importance of cooperation between Estonia and Lithuania in maritime engineering: "The maritime sector is a key economic driver for both countries. On Saturday, August 31, and Sunday, September 1, BLRT Grupp opened its doors to the public. During these days, visitors of all ages had the opportunity to explore the holding's industrial area. They could see the berths and the machinery located there, a fish farming barge under construction at Marketex Marine, the new main assembly hall and machining hall for large structures at Marketex Offshore Constructions. Visitors also got a close-up look at how our floating docks operate. The long-awaited ceremonial event celebrating the commissioning of our new large floating dock took place today, August 8th. The 180-meter-long, 30-meter-wide floating dock with a lifting capacity of 10,000 tonnes was completed at the HAT-SAN Shipyard in Turkey at the end of May this year. After preparing the necessary infrastructure for the dock installation and transporting it by sea to Tallinn with the Zeus of Finland tug, owned by Alfons Håkans, the dock was placed in its permanent operational location. The new floating dock, designed for ship maintenance, repair, and modernization, is capable of servicing all Handysize vessels and some Handymax vessels, ranging from tankers to passenger ships. “We tend to think of the maritime industry mainly in terms of ships and ports, but, in fact, this sector has tremendous potential. The commissioning of the new large floating dock at BLRT Grupp's ship repair yard marks a significant milestone for Estonia's industrial progress. This investment will substantially expand the yard's capabilities to service, repair, and upgrade large-capacity vessels. Simultaneously, it will support Estonia's strategy for developing a hub of environmentally safe and innovative maritime technologies and services. If we approach this wisely, we can transform Estonia into a nation as advanced in maritime technologies as we are today in digital technologies.
