It’s going to be a very bloody Christmas. Critics are calling Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu one of the best vampire adaptations of all time, and to gear up audiences for the premiere on December 25, RT’s Jacqueline Coley sat down with the director and the cast as they shared their favorite on-set memories and some of the scariest moments during production. Eggers also talks about the most surprising place he drew inspiration from for the film, while Depp shares her reaction to seeing Bill Skarsgård in costume for the first time.

Jacqueline Coley for Rotten Tomatoes: What was scarier? The trained rats or Bill in his costumes?

Lily-Rose Depp: I think we’re going to have different answers. I’d probably say Bill because I feel like I had to get more up close and personal with Count Orlok. [When I saw him] I was like, “You’re so scary. Oh my God.”

Emma Corrin: And I had to get more up close and personal with the rats. [But seeing Bill] is insane.

Nosferatu is coming to theaters December 25.
