Many studies on the contemporary history of the Patriarchate have focused on the Patriarchate of Giuseppe Valerga (1847-1872); however, archival sources have made possible the study of the period successive to his tenure. The relationes ad limina, which are the periodic reports presented by the Ordinary to the Holy See, are a primary source that has received little attention. This essay contributes to the history of the Patriarchate between 1873 and 1913 by providing a study of three previously unpublished reports from 1877, 1893 and 1913.
