Normally, I wouldn’t do these types of posts…
But!
Something happened this week that made me realize how important this is—not just to me but to all the people involved in it.
Around two years ago, I got acquainted with some quite cool folks across the Atlantic - namely, Soufiane, Oliver, and Michael. They wanted us to take trainee-led innovation in life science to the next level in Denmark. Rather ambitious, I’d say in retrospect, but we decided to do it.
Luckily, I was not the only one who wanted to challenge the norm of what academic trainees are capable of. After a lot of discussions back and forth, challenged by both a cultural- and a time difference, we came to an agreement, and Carlotta, Justus, Venla, and I became the founding members of Nucleate Denmark.
To get things moving – fast – we had the ‘quite cool folks across the Atlantic’ over to help us explain the experiment to be performed to some rather important people anchored in the Danish life science ecosystem. We wanted to expand an equity-free and cost-free accelerator program for life science trainees to Denmark. The sheer amount of names that I should acknowledge to make this possible would probably get this post flagged by excessive tagging of people; however, Louise Strandberg Clemmensen and Karin Hultman became two important figures from the industry to make it a reality.
The running start – or storming, one might say – became the theme of our company-creation program, The Activator, in our inaugural season. Fast-forward one year, despite the storming, this week I finally understood how our program has a meaningful impact on our Activator teams and beyond.
It’s not just about venture creation; it’s about the culture and community that we are building. Therefore, I am so immensely proud of each of the solution-seeking and creative individuals shown in this picture.
Thanks to every single curious person we have met, who helped and inspired us along the way! This journey has only just begun, and I’m so eager to meet with all the cool technologies that our new team will do their best to help have an impact on both human- and planetary health.
