Our Head Office Gets a Makeover for the Indoor Season ✨ As our stores transition from outdoor to indoor to match the season, so has our head office in Brabrand, Denmark. Our Range & Design team has recently given it a makeover with new indoor products from the latest assortment, inspired by the most current design trends. The aim was to create inspiring new environments for both colleagues and visitors. Our reception area now features a new relaxing sofa area and dining area, showcasing classic designs, rich materials, and trending textiles. 🪑 We've also renewed an area above our canteen with eye-catching items in trending colours like green, terracotta, yellow, and sand. We're celebrating and supporting the Paralympic Games 🎉 Dedication, hard work, and a winning attitude. 🌟 Those are the qualities that make up the success in our JYSK stores all around the world. Behind the scenes: Seasonal transformation at JYSK stores 🛠 Twice a year, as we transition from summer to winter and vice versa, our stores undergo a big transformation. At this time of year, we make space for new arrivals within furniture, mattresses, home textiles, and homeware. 🪑 Countless hours of hard work go into assembling, arranging, and decorating our stores. A team effort is crucial in reaching the goal of setting up the stores for a new season. 🙌 💬 „A lot of planning is required before the transformation to ensure we have enough staff in the store so we can meet our deadlines. It’s a busy period where planning and teamwork are key,” says Mathias Christensen, Store Manager in JYSK Hadsten, Denmark. As part of the transformation, several room setups are redesigned. These designs are decided upon and visually presented in a Visual Merchandising (VM) Catalogue, which our store staff use to recreate the room setups. ✨ 💬 “The aim of our VM Catalogue is to present the products in the best possible way across all stores. It ensures that all stores have the same visual expression, regardless of which JYSK store you visit. This allows our colleagues to spend more time with customers, as they don’t need to create displays from scratch,” says Katrine Veggerby, Project & Team Leader, Space Management at JYSK. JYSK saves 78 tonnes of plastic on curtains ♻ Bed linen, sheets, pillowcases and now ready-made curtains. JYSK is working strategically on reducing the use of plastic on packaging. During the last couple of years, a change from plastic packaging to a cardboard bellyband has reduced the use of plastic remarkably on different product groups, and now the next category is also joining the cardboard wave. 📦 By changing the packaging from plastic to cardboard on ready-made curtains, JYSK will save around 78 tonnes of plastic every year. The improvement has already been introduced on all subgroups in all JYSK stores around the world (except string curtains). 💬 “The primary reason for this change is to reduce our use of plastic, and 78 tonnes are quite significant. With the new packaging, you also see the colours of the products more clearly, which attracts more attention. The feedback from our colleagues in the stores is that it looks nice and gives a more consistent impression along with the bellyband on other product groups,” says Lene Østerberg, Category Buyer Window Dressing. The plastic packaging will still be seen for a period, until all products with the old packaging are sold. JYSK is currently also looking into optimising the packaging for blinds. It’s usually during the first third of the sleep cycle that sleepwalking occurs. 🥱 Since sleepwalking is not dangerous and doesn’t affect the quality of your sleep, it's not usually necessary to seek help. Hella and Yolanda are working together until retirement 💙 Age is just a number, and Hella van Dinter (62) and Yolanda Aarts (63) prove that every day. For 16 years, these dedicated Sales Assistants have been an inseparable team at one of our Dutch stores. 🛒 Hella and Yolanda have been with us nearly from the start, witnessing our journey in the Netherlands firsthand. 💬 “When we retire, we’re going to write a book – and it’s going to be a bestseller,” Yolanda says with a smile. She clearly remembers her first day at JYSK Helmond in the Netherlands: “I remember walking in and thinking, ‘What did I sign up for?’” 👀 At that time, she felt the store’s look and feel could improve. “16 years later, the transformation has been remarkable. Customers now tell us how beautiful the store has become and how much they love our products – and we couldn’t agree more.” Hella and Yolanda are committed to continuing their journey with us until retirement. “Then we’ll meet back here to check if the store is still in tip-top shape,” Yolanda laughs.
